Interesting perspectives:

- Assume Ni at $20USD/lb = $1.25/oz(a) = $1.37/oz(troy).

- With Ni at $1.37/ozt it is just about 10% the value of Silver, which is between $14.50 and $15.00

- Someone here said "Nickel....the poor mans silver..." Very True!

- A US 5 Cent "Nickel" at 25% Ni + 75% Cu and a coin weight of 5 grams, has a 90.8 count per pound or $4.54UDS/lb: 1 lb x 25% x $20/lb Ni = $5 in Ni content alone. That means there is a "Free" $0.46 in Ni + "Free" Copper of 0.75 lb x $2.50ish/lb = about $3 total "Free" value per pound of coins.

- I never really thought about it, but a "Nickel" at face value of 5 cents has been worth it's Ni contentent alone ever since Ni traded above $18.16/lb.

Wasn't silver priced at $1.29 per troy oz back in the 1960's?

Looks like nickel is becoming the poor mans silver after all.

Thank You both for the above information. These are very useful facts.

Here is a site that calculates the value of gold, but not silver.
You can generate charts that show the price of gold back to 1257 AD.

Ted Butler weighs in on the ratio.

I plan to get as many US Nickels 75% copper 25% Nickel as I can between now and when they stop letting me.

Peace!
