2009 Lincoln Cent Release Dates
2009 Lincoln cent coin collectors now have some partial information about the release dates for the upcoming 2009 Lincoln Cents. The special coins will be issued to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The special issues include four differently designed one cent coins, featuring different periods of Lincoln’s life, as well as a Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar.
The 2009 Lincoln Cents will be issued periodically throughout the year. The release date for the first design representing Lincoln’s birth and early childhood will be released on February 12, 2009. This will coincide with Lincoln’s exact 200th birthday. The three remaining designs will be issued approximately every three months thereafter. The exact dates have not yet been released by the United States Mint.
The Lincoln Commemorative coin will be released on February 12, 2009, once again to coincide with Lincoln’s exact 200th birthday. Typically, commemorative coins are issued at a discounted price for the first 30 days of sales, with regular pricing following. The exact price has not yet been released by the US Mint, but it will likely be in the $35 to $40 range.
