For those who keep track or stats of their coin roll searching, what's the best box you can remember?

For wheats, it was a box last September that yielded 46 total wheats. I remember one early roll yielded 15 wheats and another right after that 7 wheats, so I thought I would have a much bigger haul of wheats but I still cant complain.

For copper cents, I had a box last March that yielded 1360 LMC's that were copper, along with 37 wheat cents and 15 Canadian copper cents.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Back last year when I did a little hand sorting I found something like 256 wheats in a $50 bag.

Holy crap highroller....that's a nice haul. It would take me about 20 boxes to get that many.

I just looked at my numbers for 2008, and I picked up a total of 520 wheats from just over 109K pennies sorted (roughly 44 total boxes). So you got almost half in one 5000-count bag as I did for the whole year...lol

LOL yeah that was a big score on the wheats for the bag. I would have to look but I think the first $850 i sorted on my ryedale only gave me like 251 wheats or something along those lines. Congrats on the 520 though over the year

I'm still new to this and i've only searched about 15 boxes so far, and I found 46 wheats from one box not to long ago, but the cool part was that about 10 of them were in like new condition from the mid 40's and mid 50's with minimal wear and as shinny as the day they were made. A nice 23'S-Mint was in there as well. Also in this box I found two 1968 S-mints and one 1982-D-Z-S (Small date Zinc) which are the only ones of these i've found so far out of all the pennies i've searched.

1146 Wheat Cents in a single box (including 11 steel cents). Last month. Deceased old lady wheat dump. Link above.

I just got another box yesterday that had one roll with almost all wheats in it. All were common 1950's dates except a single 1927 cent. No other wheats were found in the whole box. Go to the inner city banks, late afternoon. Great scores these days for wheats. Love the hand rolled pennies with the address stickers on them. Usually means an elderly person rolled them up (wheats). Enclosed is my wheat collection so far along with my most recent box where I got a complete roll. Note the old style wrappers. I got over 50% copper out of this box.

I've had good boxes, some had 30 or more Wheats, some had almost 40% Cu.
But the one that I think of as the best box was the one that I found the 1909 VDB.

There's profit if you melt things!!

A general group (not a box) of $50 yielded me over 200 Wheats. I didn't count them, but I know they were at least that high.

CuproNickle,
Your not going to believe this but I scored $10 in pennies in those odd rolls today at my bank. Nothing older than 1977. However I got 5 or 6 common wheats.

Its nice to see old paper rolls, its quite interesting. If their faded, have that mold smell, or have white paper insides, its bound to be a good haul.

Last September, a 1904 Indian Head and 42 wheats. Average copper content, but the Indian made my day.

I have only done two boxes so far. My first was 8 wheats, the second was 38, including a shiny 1955-S in AU condition!

Best box for me was around 1500 coppers and about 75 wheaties. I usually get stuck with Brinks boxes. CWR are another story, however. I got a solid roll of wheats in a CWR once, I think there were three late 1930's.
