| Visited a new small town bank. Asked for 1/2s for my collection and the teller says "there are no silver ones here if that is what you are looking for". I buy them anyway, and she rounds up 1/2s from all the other tellers. 1 X 40% 1967 sitting right there in the stack. Yup, no silver, just a partly silver coin. $28 searched - 1 X 40%. Got 1 Ike Dollar too. |

$200 in dimes today. Skunked on silver.. but I did get 91 cents in bonus coins.. 9 dimes and a penny.  |

Not sure how many boxes I went through. Probably between 20-25. Up to you if you want to add my findings. I know it'll skew your numbers higher than average.
20-25 is a big difference, lets just start keeping track in May if your going to contribute. Thanks.
I dont really track the boxes looked through, but since this is the first set of the month, I guess I'll post it, and not post the rest of the month's tally.

Buyingsilvers - If you don't mind my asking, where are you buying these boxes? What region of the country? Your averages seem way better than anyone else on here. For a while I thought I was doing well in central PA, with about 10 or so silvers per box usually. Skunks were exceedingly rare all of last year. That has reversed this year so far - finding 5+ silvers (mix of 40 and 90 %'s) per box has been rare lately.
Just did another $500 box of halves the other day. Complete skunk, not even any NIFCs. 1000 coins sorted, 1000 coins released back into the wild. Though I don't usually keep the NIFCs anyway, so I guess this point is moot. |

1x 40%
2x Proofs (including one 1987s)
I will take a stab at helping keep the totals updated below, and will include mine and buyingsilvers' post from today.

Rather not say. The semi-anonymity of forum posting is probably the only reason I'm willing to post anything about it. I definately dont say anything to anyone locally.
10 silver average per box is pretty good IMO. My boxes usually run 10-20. Sometimes less, sometimes more. When these boxes run out, and I dont doubt that they will, I'll go to skunk hell. From what I understand from talks with bank managers & whatnot, their central vault is pulling the boxes from another bank vault, which doesn't maintain branches in my state any more, only provides vault service. So these boxes have been collecting dust for quite a while. |

Actually the 2nd 1987s proof I've pulled out of boxes (Got one the very first box I did)... and yes, this one was in GREAT condition. :) |

Nice job. The last nice box I had was one of eight nearly skunks.
I had almost 8 boxes skunked before that.
I just got another eight. First box one 34 Walker, nice condition. Two boxes with 5 total (4-40%) and the next box skunk. Half way.
I love the great finds posted here. Gives some extra to keep going.
I have lots of coins in (almost) great shape but all not worth collecting. Always a flaw. Box after box of pretty edges! |

FYI:
I was asking about buying an '87 at a coin shop last October. He only had 1 that looked like it was used for a puck on an air hockey table over the last 10 years. After 5 to 10 minutes of searching his references books he offered it to me for only $15.00 because of the condition. I declined to purchase, I've found and traded for nicer ones over the years. This is a KEY date that should increase nicely as time goes by. |
