I thought I might have the first for 2009, but I see highroller already has two. Anyway, I'm happy to say I just found an 1899 Indian. It's a nice looking coin, I'd grade it a strong vg.
I ran a zinc keep through the ryedale, and ran a quick visual look through for wheats and oddities, and there it was.

We should not allow this kind of pure fiction in our forum. At least this part is true: "everybody else in the penny sorting world - 0"

Found my first IH for the year. It has been so long since I found one I was beginning to think maybe I was under the influence of a "pathogen".

Unfortunately, it looks like someone spray painted it gold, then glued it to something.

If that is true that there is one indian head for every 250,000 pennies there ahould be about 800,000 indian heads out there somewhere.

Total pennies in existance 200,035,318,672

1 Indian head for every 250,000 pennies

equals 800,000 indian heads

Sounds like alot but there are a crap load of pennies out there!

That's better. How can we believe that they found them?

Well, well, well. I don't typically ask for pennies at this particular branch as they are, shall we say, less than friendly. But, the other day I did and they had a whopping $8 worth. Glad I got them. I was opening the rolls and checking for the nasty coins. In the first roll I found a 1903. Third ever for me. I've left the other rolls alone.

Whew...first of the year. 10k pennies and this was 2nd to the last group of my zinc hand sort. I've had the Ryedale 2 months now. Found a 1907 in late December and this is first of the new year. Not too shabby. Found it in a large group of customer wrapped rolls.

This thread proves that there is no cure for the wild indian pathogen. You guys are still sick, and there still is no cure.

I wish I could comment more on the non-existence of wild indians, but I cannot. I have had back trouble since last May which resulted in surgery a couple of weeks ago. My sorting has been greatly curtailed as a result of not being able to lift any boxes. I have to plead and cojole to get my wife to get me an occasional nickel box. Accordingly, since I am not sorting pennies, I do not feel "entitled" to visit here on occasion and tell you all that you are just sick and are daydreaming about wild indians. By the way, most of us grew out of the "wild indian belief" stage when we quit playing cowboys and indians as children.

At least Misteroman is still a faithful Rational Thinker.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

Found my second of the year already! I can't believe it. In the second roll of the bag to boot. It's a VG 1888. I'll take that "Oldest IH" award, thank you very much.

I just found my first Indian Head Penny Wow! It took about 350k or so to find this one. I found it while opening the wrappers into the box before sorting them. Its a beat up 1907, but its an Indian!

And honestly, I was starting to think people dont find Indians in the wild anymore. I guess now I will have to start believing
