Table based on December 18, 2008 closing base metal prices:
Copper $1.2899/lb 0.0689

Did any of you think it could go this low. Is copper going below 1.00
seems to me copper and gas have been about the same price lately.
Down from highs in the fours june/july.

cwgii- So if you're not hoarding, you're just sorting for fun and profit?
And, at about 8000 to 1, gold is easier to transport and store than copper! :)

Now only if those gold coins had a "decent" face value, like copper cents.

I'm with the rest of you, I don't understand why copper is as low as it is. I'm expecting it to go back to $2.50 - $3.00 this summer, I'm holding all of my scrap for now. Time will tell.

wow dude, you must have a lot of room to store scrap, or a small amount of scrap.

If copper historically follows the price of a gallon of gas, we all know how demand is dropping for gas. I would assume demand is dropping for copper too. That is the problem with industrial metals. If there is no industry, there is no demand, therefore no value at the present time. Look at Rhodium prices. No cars being made, rhodium is less than a grand an oz.
