Hi all,

I just thought I would chime in with some updates and thoughts...I have really been enjoying my membership in this forum and even though I don't have many exciting things to report, I still want to keep in touch!

Last weekend in my traditional $10 sort I got a worn 1919 and a 1925, 6 40's and 50's, and not a single Canadian, and one dime.

I am trying to quit smoking (again), right now I am just in my cutting down stage, and my reward for meeting the goals I set for myself and saving the money on cigarettes is to get more pennies. Sorting keeps my hands and mind busy!

Last weekend, while I was at the laundromat washing a comforter, it also occurred to me that it might be an interesting place to get quarters, especially if you need a sorting fix and the banks are closed. I changed $20, didn't get any silver, but I did get a few 1965-70 that I kept since they are getting harder and harder to find.

Have a great rest of the week!

good luck with the cigs...i'm gonna try (again) here soon. It aint easy...especially with a teenager in the house who knows everything.

The patches have worked for me in the past just so long as i dont sleep with one on. If i leave them on as I sleep I get really really weird dreams.

Re: Trying to quit smoking

I was at the mall yesterday and saw the E-Cigarette.

I don't smoke, but it definitely looked very intriguing.

Quitting is easy, I've done it several times.
Good luck!

Never smoked cigarettes before. So I've never tried to quit.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Coins could be as addicting as tobacco but way easier on the pocket book and health- and when is the last time you found a valuable old stick of tobacco in a box?

You can quit, but it's hard. I finally gave it up in '85, but that was my 4th time quitting.
Things taste better, your breath smells better, and you have more capital to use to sort.

coinchamp...positive thoughts and positive motivation will allow you to be successful in licking this habit. And what better to replace it with but a habit of searching coins.

Good luck to you in this endeavor and continued success in your coin searches. It's a safe, healthy, relaxing hobby.

Please keep us updated.

Hi all,

I'm in the Northeast where the power has been out for just about a week for the majority of the population. I have been blessed with not having it too bad. Now I am catching up before the next group of storms hit this weekend! I bought one of those electronic cigarettes, a cheaper model, so far so good. I have been on it for 3 days. :o)

Thanks for all the positive thoughts! Happy sorting!

PS my husband refers to all of you as my "copper companions"

Coinchamp...continued success on trying and succeeding in quitting smoking. My mom died because of smoking and never got to see her grandchild.

I hope you stay safe in this bad weather and can manage to keep your power. Hopefully you are well stocked in all necessary supplies...especially pennies to sort!

Coinchamp,
Remember you really do want to quit.
Temptation is everywhere and friends will throw cig's at you.
Remember you really want to quit.
If a dolt like me can do it, so can you! Keep up the hard work. It will get easier and the cravings less frequent over time.
Remember you really want to quit.
Tell that to yourself over and over and over every day (or hour if you need to)!!!!!

PS - How's the sorting been lately?

There's profit if you melt things!!
