Went to the bank and bought $10.00 worth or pennies. They broke out a brinks box that had hand rolled pennies in it. I got home and seveal of the rolls were filled with all wheats including steel cents. I went back to the same bank and bought the rest from the same tellar. I think I have close to 1000 wheats out of a $25.00 box. Plus there were rolls that contained totally mint 1974-S and 1975 pennies. These looked like they came off the press yesterday. Are these worth saving? They are totally pristine. I have at least three 1910 pennies but most seem to be common dates. Lots of teens and 1920's....well worn. These inner city banks are the place to score!

| Boy now that's a find. Here's one for you. Went last night to bank and got 50 rolls and every single roll was a dated roll - no newer than 1974~~ Might be a long long time til I get that lucky again. For the dated rolls. Lots are old Canadian cent rolls too. Early 40's, etc. I'm loving it! |

I put a buy order at 4 cents each and was able to buy all I could handle.
On eBay 5,000 wheat pennies routinely goes for between $210 and $250 (including shipping) depending on your luck. After eBay's and Paypal's fees and your shipping costs that's between $186 and $220 in your pocket.
If you are unethical (I don't recommend this) you can put them in used "shotgun rolls" poke an Indian head in one end and sell the common wheat roll + 1 Indian head for $9 to $11 depending on your luck. Can someone answer the age old question: Why on earth is anyone still buying these? Do people honestly believe that there are still 100+ of these "Indian head showing rolls" available every day on eBay? Come on people!
For full roll DATED sets you can get slightly more than 4 cents each, especially if the quality is decent and you have nice pictures of them.
If you want to sell them quickly, I will pick them up at 3.9c/each shipped since I guess I can buy a few more :)
In terms of the BU 1974-S and 1975, they "Greysheet" for 2.15 (1974-S) and 1.10 (1975) respectively, although if they are full-red you can easily get more than that on eBay even after fees. |

Amazing finds. Wow!!! I am green with envy.
Check your coin book for info about the small date but it might refer to 1970. My eyes are too bad to try to distinguish these for myself.

I got a 1919 in the red. Seems like the best find so far. I'm up to 11 steel cents. 1920's dates seem more common than 1930's. Lots of 1919 for the teen years. 1930 seems the most common date for the 30's . Huge pile of 40's and 50's. will post totals later:
Total wheat score from the box are 1146. All common dates with one in the red 1919. Around 300 were from the teens, 20's and 30's. 11 steels. Close to 300 or so mint condition 1974-s and 1975 pennies. The funny thing about this box was the almost total lack of Canadian pennies. I think there were 3. I live near the border and I usually get at least 100 or more per box. I'm heading to the bank this morning to see if they have more despite the snow storm. These were all hand rolled pennies. |

Nice Score! I'm hoping to find a lot more wheats today when I pick up $50 from this one branch that has been overflowing with pennies for decades. I'll see if they can get me two boxes from the bottom of the pile! |

| Good luck today Mike. My first roll of 50 only netted me 20% copper but I won't complain a bit. I'll take what I can get and the fun is in the hunt. |

| I just got back from the same bank that netted me over 1000 wheats. I even took the odd colored tan pennie wrapper in with me and asked the same teller if she had any of these left. She remembered me from the past day. She told me a woman brought in over $100 worth of rolled pennies and they were all gone as she was the commercial transaction tellar and she gave them all out. I got the last of them yesterday. She said the woman who brought them in told her they were cleaning out her deceased mothers house and found them all over the place and rolled them up. I got 1/4 of her stash. |

Goodcents...check with a few of your local coin shops to see what book(s) they recommend. If there is a coin club nearby join and talk to the members. You should get a consensus this way as to which one is the best to purchase.
Enjoy. |

Hi all,
My best wheat find ever in a $25 brinks box was 63.
In loose CWR's, my best was about 200 in $50 face wrapped.

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

| My best find up to this point was 83 wheats. I was blown away when roll after roll was filled with wheats on this box. |

Sorry you didn't get all of them but it is good to know the rest are probably in circulation now. |

The thing that really blew me away was the number of STEEL cents....eleven. I've only found one steel penny so far sorting over the past couple of years. You guys have got to start hitting the inner city banks. Late in the afternoon. They are heavy with wheats.
