They rarely circulated, but I was offered one at a bank recently. They actually called me to come get it with some equally rare halfs. No silver, but they are cool to have anyway. |

I buy them when I find them at a reasonable price, but like Legacy says they aren't around too much. |

I am a buyer and continue to buy and hold whenever I can find them.
Anyone here with some 1945, 46, 47 or 1948's for sale?

If they do then they should either PM you or post them in BUY, SELL, TRADE, RENT. I would like to rent some myself. |

LOL I wish. I got offered a 48 the other day but just didn't have the extra $1000 at the time which was a good price. I usually have a spare $1K around in case of just such a thing but spent it on another toy instead. can't win em all. |

I have about 50 or so of them. Most of mine are 1967...in fact I have an original bank roll of 1967's and then I also have a few that are prooflike, also 1967. All of mine are silver. |

Bought about 20 from Apmex recently. Probably expensive. But I like them. They look nice. |

We got ride of the $1 bill in 1987 and replaced it with a smaller nickel bronze $1 coin.
The older dollar coins are silver in colour be it silver or nickel and larger so we rarely see these in banks at all. They get weeded out because they are so different. |

The 1949 is a pretty nice looking coin, kind of a big brother to the bluenose dime. I like the look of the 1958 totem pole one as well. |

I've asked about ordering 1/2s in Canada by the box and they looked at me like I was nuts. When I toured the RCM they said less then 500,000 1/2s are made per year, and they go into coin sets (all or mostly, not sure). Anyway I remember occasionally seeing them as a kid - they were rare so fun to spend. Now you almost never see them. I've bought a few non-silver ones since I started coin roll hunting. Once a bank called and offered a few, once a teller offered me one, and once a kid at the next teller was trying to deposit one and the teller was refusing it as not legal tender (it is legal tender) so I bought it off the kid. |
