Hi everyone,

I hope I am putting this in the right forum since I am technically not selling anything.

Last night while I was looking on Ebay for pictures of errors, I inadvertently found that there is a market for rainbow toned coins of all different dates and denominations, even those that aren't proofs. Here is an example:

This is something I have actually found in my pocket change but I put it in my "spend" pile, now I am going to go back and hunt it out! I might experiment with a listing over Thanksgiving break.

Just thought I would pass this on to give the hand sorters something else to look for as a chance to make more $$.

Pennies make dollars

I see them once in a while. Anyone know if they will go all dark after a while?

At that price with 0 bids, I see no market!

I asked a coin dealer that buys errors and other coins about the toned pennies. He said as of right now there is no real market for them but in the future he is thinking that there may be. But, then he qualified his original statement with: BUT, you never know exactly what coin collectors may want in their collections.

So, you might want to hang on to any that you get in case a market does come along for them. As few as I find, this wouldn't be too much of a hardship financially.
