I found my oldest Canadian penny the other day. It is a 1920. It was my fourth or fifth find of the old kings.

Is there any numismatic value to these older kings?
Or with any kings in general?
And I have found more of these older kings in circulation down here in the States than I have Indian heads.
Wait - I haven't found any Indian heads. Because they don't exist in the wild...

Save the Kings! Think of them as Canadian, "Wheats", eh? The oldest I have is a '34. Legacypac might just chime in with some key dates, errors or specific Cu disks to seek. (I really like the Dove penny.) Remember Canada isn't that old as a Country, eh. But it does have a rich heritage (imagine bagpipes playing softly in the background) of coinage while part of the King's (and even Queen V's)Empire! |

| A 1920 is the oldest one you will ever find. Prior to 1920, Canada had "large" cents which are a completely different size than modern pennies. I have found several 20's/30's myself. |

| The oldest coin I found was an 1859 canadian penny. Someone left it on top of the coin machine because Coin Star wouldn't take it. |

| I found a george v (1929 or 30 maybe?) in a garbage can in front of a bank once. I was throwing something out and I noticed some change on top of a plastic bag. There was over a dollar in dimes, nickels and pennies, and another one of the pennies was a george vi. |

I think I found a 1922 once, and maybe 4 or 5 old design pennies. Am on the road away from my coins. Two of those came in a batch of Canadians I bought off someone - they were just mixed in with all the newer Cu Canadians. All the old design (like my aviator) have a little extra value in theory so I save them seperate.
Circulated Rock Doves are not worth more then copper value as they are very common, and there are lots of uncirculated ones out there too.
