Hi all,
Here's my little manifesto for all the roll- hunters out there...
I have finally come to the realization that I am physically addicted to sorting coins.
I've likened opening coin rolls to getting scratch off lotto tickets-the anticipation, the hope, the skunks, finding and winning.... but, unlike conventional games of chance, roll hunting has no "loser"- just the winners and the "pushers."
Going to pick up $1000 in halves tomorrow, and $500 more on Thursday, and I can't freaking wait! It's like knowing you're going to Great America tomorrow, or knowing you'll be going on a plane to your vacation destination tomorrow, or knowing you'll be going home for Christmas vacation tomorrow, or knowing you be going on that fishing trip tomorrow...you fill in the blank!

Don't know if I'll get skunked or find several ROLLS of silver- that's what it's all about!
It's not really the GREED that I'm after. Rather, the concept of FINDING the coins is what turns me on. Finding silver that someone had, and lost, and now I find it!!!!
Many, many, MANY times I've found no silver coins, or only 1 40% in thousands of halves, but the hope is always there. I've also had enough "hot" boxes- you know the ones- where every roll in the box has silver in it, and making money is just a matter of how fast you can tear open the rolls- to know that this is one of the greatest sports on earth!
The blackened fingers, piles of yellow wrappers scattered like leaves, suprisingly crush-resistant horizontal boxes...and the counting, the cursing, the CASHING!!!
Can't get enough!

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

Unlike lotto tickets, if a box is a loser you can return it and get all your money back. So you can get another one.
I feel I too have fallen to the ravages of addiction. I can't look a collection of coins with out wanting to search it.
I scan the cashiers drawer when it is open. I found a .999 Canadian doing that. The young queen was staring up at me amongst the Jefferson's. Cashier thought I wasn't quite right for asking her to include it in my change.

| I know the feeling. I put in my first order of 4 boxes of halves that I'm picking up on Thursday. I can't wait! :) |
