From a UAE Paper called The National:

The numbers don't add to 100% because the balance stated they don't know/no opinion.
Barak Obama is the overwhelming better choice among Middle East residents to become the next US president. Obama was favoured by 51.1 per cent, while only 8.8 per cent of the respondents
The countries surveyed were the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria and Syria as well as the Palestinian territories.
GCC college students, ages 18 to 25, where Mr Obama scored his highest marks, with 60 per cent favourability. Only 3.78 per cent of those students backed Mr McCain. ------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of these countries are not so friendly to the US, so it is interesting to see who our enemies want as the leader of the free world.

This is also true for Europe.
Most of the world is to the political left of the US. If the world were deciding US elections, the Republican party would never win again. |

The Republican party's foreign policy for years now has been "Speak loudly, carry a big stick, and use it often." As a result, most of the world does not look kindly on us, but who cares the rest of the world stinks anyways. |

Most people dont! It's important what they think though. Unfortunately...The US should drop out of the UN. That will save some taxpayer money! |

I don't think the republicans have a complete monopoly on that one. Clinton got us into a few spats, and with all the talk from Obama about invading Pakistan.., and Hillery talking tough about anyone threatening Israel during the primaries...
I guess it all depends on who is on what end of the "stick".
If it would have been Gore or Kerry in the Whitehouse, and if we still went into Iraq, it would be viewed as a great humanitarian event, with worldwide support and assistance. The world is left and leftists are hypocrites.
Discalimer - I was and still am 100% against the war in Iraq.

World Citizens Prefer Obama to McCain by More Than 3-to-1 - lots of detailed articles links on the page.
Gallup Polls conducted in 73 countries from May to October 2008 reveal widespread international support for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama over Republican Sen. John McCain in the U.S. presidential election. Among these nations, representing nearly three-quarters of the world's population, 24% of citizens say they would personally rather see Obama elected president of the United States, compared with just 7% who say the same about McCain. At the same time, 69% of world citizens surveyed did not have an opinion.
a median of 56% of Africans surveyed chose Democratic candidate Barack Obama, while a median of 9% chose Republican candidate John McCain
Obama is preferred more than 4-to-1 in Japan and Australia and 2-to-1 in South Korea and Singapore
The Philippines is one of only a few countries Gallup surveyed where citizens preferred Republican Sen. John McCain to Democratic Sen. Barack Obama as the next U.S. president. In late May 2008, Filipinos slightly favored McCain (28%) over Obama (20%), though a slim majority (52%) did not express a preference.
Two in three Canadians (67%) prefer Obama, while 22% favor McCain. As in the United States, widespread disapproval of the Bush administration is almost certainly hurting McCain in Canada. Just 22% of Canadians say they approve of the current U.S. leadership, while 71% say they do not.
In Mexico, the ratio of supporters between the two candidates is similar at 3-to-1 in favor of Obama; unlike Canadians however, most Mexicans -- 63% -- do not venture an opinion at all. This is in part a function of Mexicans' lower average socioeconomic status and education level; for example, 76% of Mexicans with elementary education or less say they don't have an opinion about the U.S. election, versus just 35% of those with a four-year degree who say the same.
A median of 65% in 14 European countries interviewed between March and July of this year say who wins November's presidential election in the United States makes a difference to their country.
Obama is the clear favorite in every European country polled. At the time these interviews were conducted, a median of 63% of respondents from 14 European countries said they would rather see Obama elected over John McCain (10%). Netherlands and Norway are most likely to favor Obama, with 74% and 71%, respectively, choosing him over McCain
