Does anyone ever get sick of the "numpties" out there who know everything but don't actually know anything?

Maybe i'm alone and its a british thing but everybody seems to know everything!

examples

Why are you wasting money buying silver its crap?
Why don't you save money in the bank?(hmm)
Why don't you buy a house?(hmm)
You can't buy anything with silver!!
Why are you collecting silver and not saving pounds?
You would be better spending your money on things for your family!!
You would be better saving to look after your familie's future!!

Now personally i find these w*****s a bit annoying after all if
things keep going the way they are i'll be able to do all of these with ease while they suffer-this is of course just my opinion but let
me know if anyone else has these people getting up their nose i'd be especially intrested in hearing from uk members but all are welcome to respond as i imagine its a global thing
let me know

About the only thing you can say to people like that is, "So, how's that Enron/Worldcom/AIG stock of yours doing?"

I don't mind being annoyed as long as I can still buy silver. What worries me is people like this going postal when they realize they SHOULD'VE listened to us years ago and now they're left with nothing but paper. It sucks to be them, but they can't say we didn't tell them...

Precious Metals are better than money in the bank...what sounds better, $20,000 in gold and silver or $20,000 in the bank. I'd say gold and silver sounds better. I still get people amazed when i tell them I actually have pure silver bars at home. People dont realize how vaulabe silver is...so let them think hat way while I reap the rewards

I doubt my family would trade me silver for lead. I keep that sort of information very hush, hush except for my immediate family which I am giving advice to start buying PM's. My dad has started doing coin roll hunting and in $30 he has cashed in he already has 29 90%ers halves and 3 or 4 40% halves. He's 65 right now but the problem is how he will be able to sell the 90% junk coins, I doubt any dealer in Puerto Rico will give him decent value for them and he has no Ebay account so Im thinking about offering him 5x or 6x face value for the coins. We both win!!!!!

I think it is funny how the British guy did not want to spell out WANKERS because he percieves it as a bad word.

I live with my ladyfriend and she thought I was absolutely insane when she came home and saw $4000 in change on the coffee table. Recently she has started to join me in my search for silver. I think the turning point was when I explained I'm essentially getting valuable metals for less than they cost to buy. That and the massive stacks of silver coins she finds when she gets home ;).

I think it is a global thing, or at least a western global thing.

Personally, I don't tell anybody what I'm doing. Too many people blab and gossip, even people you think you can trust. It will be innocent enough, but someone will say something to somebody and it gets around to somebody you don't want knowing.

I almost had to learn that the hard way with my firearm collection years ago. They were fellow collectors and friends... No intended harm, but people love to talk...

Homo Sapien by nature is a petty jealous animal. He or she finds out you were smarter than them and have something that puts you ahead of the pack, they will resent you, and they will take it from you when times get tough.

If they start lecturing you about the foolishness of your endevour, just do what I do, put on your best doped-out on thorazine face, stare blankly at them, and drool out the corner of your mouth.

They typically end their instructional lecture instantly on spotting the drool, and they usually never attempt to correct me again!

It takes some practice to drool on demand, but it's worth it.

Many western people love gold/silver jewelry as a status symbol but not as money. In the east many more people still view PMs as both. They too live in a fiat world, but they don't trust fiat in the sense that the west does.

It's fine being a know it all if you're not talking out you're arse. Financially Britons are very risk adverse, they can't comprehend buying PMs because they aren't very au fait with economics, they just think money in the bank is the only way to go, just say to them, historically pms out perform you're money in the bank, and in the UK with inflation at 5.2% (and the rest) and savings rates as 5% or less typically then you are actually losing purchasing power of you money by putting it in a bank, that's if it's still there when you come to take it out. Or you you could just tell them that it's ok to preach ignorance but do it elsewhere thanks.

"Why don't you buy a house?"
That was the mantra in the US- real estate always goes up (until it doesn't, and now look at the financial mess we are in.)

A few replies to the know-it-alls-

"You can't buy anything with silver!!"
No, we plan on selling silver for more than we paid for it, and for far more than we could get from a bank account earning compounded interest.

"Why don't you save money in the bank?"
Which one ISN'T going under/going into recievership?

"Why are you collecting silver and not saving pounds?"
Because I can sell the silver for Pounds, and as the Pound loses its value via inflation I gain buying power via the increase in the price of silver.

"You would be better saving to look after your familie's future!!"

Save a fiat Pound today- its buying power is 25 pence twenty years from now
Save a pound's worth of silver today- its buying power is 4 pounds twenty years from now. Isn't that looking after my families interests?

And so on.

Don't let the fools annoy you Harbinger, in the end you will be the one laughing all the way to the Manorhouse while the naysayers will be headed for the poorhouse.

or you could just ignore them if you know you are doing the right thing you don't need to convince anyone else about it

It's not a British thing.
We have the same thing here. A Branch manager I know yes's me to death when I told him I was moving to PMs a year ago. again 6 months ago. Three weeks ago he said he sunk 30K into stock.

Ahem....
