I thought I start a thread about pennies. Just found a 1958 D wheat penny that is BU condition and it was from a Brinks roll. It is the most brilliant wheat I have ever found yet. I have been getting some really nice pennies from the 1960's decade lately in my Brinks roll. I am guessing that folks are bringing in rolls of old pennies still sealed and they are getting mixed in with the rest of the stuff now. My CWRs sorts have been not as surprising as the Brinks stuff. I sorted a $25 box of CWRs last night and not a single one wheat found. There was plenty of 95% copper in it though. Perhaps this was a wheat searcher's dump? Could be. If I was more conservative with my capital tied up in 95% pennies, I'd probably just hold onto the wheats at this point and return the rest. This is getting interesting now. I think we should keep sorting no matter what. The big-time buzz about pennies going for 200% of face is diminishing now and most people will not care to hoard them I gather. I expect more of them to be dumped into the banks.
For what it's worth, I encourage any sorters in Wisconsin who are planning on dumping thier copper at a bank to contact me first. The whole idea of it is just tragic. Tragic.
You know, I tried to do the picture with a Nikon digital and it turned out OK. How do I upload it to this site? I was like a cat with a mouse kill just waiting to show Mrs. Springer today's find. I swear sometimes this stuff is my version of fishing. You wait, you drink a beer, you drive to another fishing hole,.....
You could always upload it to a Flickr or Photobucket account, and then drop the img code in your posting ... or on any BB posting anywhere for that matter. Can't wait to see it.
