I have a box of pennies that is boxed by N.F. String and Son. Marked CWI #68 Aug 28, 2008. All of the rolls are shiny and the ones that I can see with dates are 2008P. Is there a way to tell if it is a full box of 08s without opening it? I wouldn't want to sell it and someone get ripped off...

The paper rolls never seem to be mixed new and old. If all you can see is new, it is safe to assume that they are all new and all the same mint mark. I use a strong light and a magnifier to peek through all the wholes to confirm.
The plastic rolls are the ones the come mixed. I have seen boxes with 99+% new with the rest old and hardly anybody wants to buy them that way... |

| Kiel, I recently took back a box that was all zinc (new pennies). If I see all new pennies in the fifty holes, I don't buy them. Around here that doesn't happen to often. |

This is how I word my auction. It's as fair a statement as can be said.
When I pulled a dozen or so rolls to check the date, every penny where I can see the date is 2008 with no mint mark and new on both ends. I reasonably assume that the full box is uncirculated 2008-P pennies. No rolls have been opened, every roll still in the NF String and Son bank wrapper. |
