On Thursday I took a trip to Windsor, Canada (on the other side of Detroit,MI) to have a little fun and try out my luck at the local Casino in Windsor.
I also felt that it would be an awsome place to try out my nickel hoarding skills. But everytime I cashed out and turned in my TITO slips I always got solid 2008 nickels. Kind of a bummer. It almost seems like the mint supplys the casino directly. I didnt go anwaywhere else either so I came home nickeless.
An interesting thing is if you cashed out with a slip with .01-.04 cents they just gave you a nickel. No pennies! I guess it cuts costs.
One plated and stamped steel slug costs a lot less than $.03 Canuk for the Mint. They'd have to give you 3 plated and stamped steel slugs if they payed out Canuk-A-Pennies! The casino's are already making enough (unless you can count cards).
