How much are you willing to pay for physical silver now that its offical spot price is at $9.55?
Use the poll instead of posting a dollar amount if you don't want to tip-off sellers as to how high you will go.

| I am sorry to offend anyone, but it is all readily available for purchase in local saint louis, mo. I would not pay much above spot for .999 silver bullion. Are you guys all not near a metropolitan area? That must be the case. ALL the coin stores here will sell for very near melt. I hope this is not an indication of things to come. Surely, come to St. louis, and you can buy your silver, gold however IS in short supply. |

| There is always people selling at whatever price silver is at. There are plenty of bullion rounds and such out there available at minimal cost over spot. Go to the coin stores, the deals are there. I may be tempted to buy some this weekend, if the market price goes a bit lower, I should be able to get as much .999 silver as I want for under $10.00/oz. To get the best deal on silver, I drive to the country actually. About 40 miles from saint louis city, I can get 90% silver US coinage at near spot. I apologize if it is different where you live, I don't want to sound like I am bragging, but there is at least 100 coin shops within 20 miles of my house, isn't that normal for most bigger cities? |

| First the price of silver tanked then we fall for the physical silver shortage and pay even more than what it was worth. The silver shortage was a great way for the dealers or the heavy holders to unload the silver that they paid too much for on us at top dollar. But we never learn, tell us a conspircy story or too and we will buy it ever time. |

| Well, I'd love someone to come to my neck of the woods and show me where to get silver at spot. I know of one place nearby that deals with silver, and they barely had any even when it was $19/ounce. Even if there were other places to buy, traveling more than 15-20 minutes to get there would probably eat up any savings in gas and time, unless you're making a huge purchase. |

Since I am still getting started and premiun over spot is a more true price IMO, I picked up 5 more oz of CML's at 15 ea. I would wait if I had to pay more then 16...
These were 1998 CML's in sheets.
Stack = 60oz of silver and growing. Woot. |

Congrats on getting started...I started buying PM's back in 05. I remember buying 40 oz of Engelhards at less than $10 and that was including premium, and from APMEX to boot....3 years later after loosing $12K in less than 6 months in the stock market I have begun to stash PM's again. So far I have....
20 1964 Kennedy halves
1 ASE
3 Kennedy halves from 1965-1969
1 Walking Liberty half
2 Silver Washington Quarters
100/ 1 oz Buffalo Rounds
1/ 10 oz Silver Bar
1/ 1 oz Palladium Bar
And I will keep buying PM's every month. One word of advice is for you to start Coin Roll Hunting. Buy halves from the bank at face value and you could find lots of silver. Recently I bought 1 roll of halves and it turned out to be all 1964 Kennedy's which are 90%
IMO any buy below $15 is a good buy... |

Not bad...right now Im buying $500 I Series Bonds every month and buying anywhere between $150-200 worth of PM's every month, I have silver and palladium so I have to get my hands on some platinum and some gold. Rodzm, you might be better off rolling that money over from savings bonds to hard assets like precious metals (especially silver) wherever you can find it. Most of us on here are bearish about where the U.S. economy is heading in the long-term, as the $700 billion bailout especially highlights right now. I think hyperinflation like Weimar Germany might not be too far away for the U.S. given myriad circumstances. I'm not especially good at expounding upon economic details (I was a business minor for a year and a half until I switched to sociology), but the link in my signature line below should give you some major food for thought. Not sure if right now is the best time to be investing in U.S. Treasury-related securities. Hard assets such as precious metals are far and away your best bet at this juncture. (Just be sure you have ample food and other preps for the long-term first. )
I'm probably not the only one on here who's done this, but the only way I've been able to buy as much silver as I have is by selling a bunch of collectibles (old basketball cards from the '70s and '80s, plus political memorabilia) and using the money from those sales to buy silver. The way I look at it is this: The U.S., and by extension the rest of the world, is heading toward a financial black hole unless major changes happen quickly, and even that might not stop a worldwide financial meltdown at this point--hyperinflation especially. If the things I have that others might want (such as collectibles) won't be either useful or wanted by others when the economy tanks, I've been selling off everything that people might want right now and that won't help me survive if I keep it. I wanted to keep my ticket to Bill Clinton's impeachment trial, but I was much happier with the 12 ounces of silver I was able to buy from the money I got from selling the ticket, and the silver and other things I'm buying will help much more in the long run. The one things I did splurge a little on recently was a $100 billion Zimbabwe banknote--the highest-denomination currency in history, but because of hyperinflation it won't even buy a loaf of bread over there. And when you think about everything else that won't buy bread, or bullets, I'd much rather have the hard assets right now than have knickknacks stuck away in a drawer.

| Thanks Nickelless for your feedback. Ill make sure to read the article. As far as bonds it seems like a safe bet at this time but with the way the economy is going you are right that physical PM's may be the best way to go. I have been thinking of selling my collectibles...I have 80's toys (carded and all) and other stuff as well that is sitting there collecting space, Im talking a few thousand dollars worth of toys and not making me any money. Granted it's one of my hobbies but in times like these, a hobby will not give my family financial security |

Yes, I have bought at that price by making counter offers. Silver prices aren't going anywhere right now and with the price of gold falling now too at least some sellers are starting to get nervous. |
