Tulving lists 2008 silver eagles as $5.99 over spot and in stock.
Junk silver is at $4.50 over spot.
Gold eagles are $99 over spot.
It's getting nuts.
I suppose it makes sense. Silver goes down $2, so the premium goes up $2.
Monex still seems to offer decent prices, but I haven't checked to see if they actually have any stock.

In a perverse way it does. They were paying spot+ for those eagles, and they're not going to drop the profit over what they paid. I suspect, in more liquid markets they have more flexibility, and can follow spot better because they know they can replenish at a certain price. In this market, spot may be $10, but they still have to pay $15 for them and they are keeping their profit margin. If they want to stay in business they have to. Also, they are being hurt by the lack of supply.

| Another way you can look at it is as a decoupling between paper bullion and the real stuff. While the paper market is doing... whatever the hell it's doing, the market on the street is reflecting ordinary people's flight to safety. |

| well if what eveyone says is true and silver is hard to come by and dealers cab hardly get any, then the few they get they will need to charge a higher premium on to maintain their income, if they could push more volume they could reduce the premiums. It's the same in any business. |

Stoped at the coin store yesterday. Silver was at $10.50. Silver rounds cost $18. Silver Eagles cost $30.
Little more than I hoped. |

Wow that is one of the biggest premiums I have heard of! Did the dealer say what he was paying for those items? |

What's stopping people from paying the current spot price via paper. Then having it delivered? NWTMINT is selling 10oz bars min 50oz for 114.7 a bar. Compaired to Ebay 180 I've been seeing. People say the shipping takes a while. But what's it matter, if you're saving a couple hundred bucks? |

That does seem like a high premium. I figure at those prices I might as well get Proof Eagles. Got 2 really shiny ones at the coin show today for $32 each. |

Anyone with personal experience buying or selling is most welcome to go into details on our new dealers forum, but I too have heard the same about NWTM and I agree that I would pass on them too. |
