As a temporary fix the dollar sign has been removed and replaced with a digit. The company that makes the sign says they are planning a newer sign to be replaced next year that will allow the National Debt to be recorded in the quadrillions. It was installed 1989 to show the debt as it was in 1989, which was only 2.7 trillion, it now sits at over 10 trillion. Yikes!!!

You think our national debt is bad... look at Japan. I think theirs is like 150% of GDP.

"This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the "hidden" confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard." Alan Greenspan, 1966.

The question is, by the time the new debt clock is ready will it be obsolete already? :p

How has Japan had deflation for so long when they have so much more national debt than the U.S.A? Make you wonder if printing money is always inflationary right?
