Recently, I have found two unusual pennies. The first was a solid zinc penny in VF condition (1993). Read of others finding these pennies.

Today, while sorting I heard a unique sound when I drop a penny. It sounds like dropping a cheap plastic poker chip. It has no metal sound at all. It is a 2008D. I drop tested it against another 2008D and it has a totally different sound like plastic.

Any one seen this or have any ideas?

Cut it in half....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Maybe a plastic penny from a teller training kit. They claim that the plastic money is very realistic. Here is a full selection: You must be logged in to see this link.

Not real sure why you would buy plastic coins for training, especially why one would pay $3.14 for 100 plastic pennies. Just count out and use real ones, but to each his own. Maybe this proves that a plastic standard is also impractical.
