How hard would it be to find a buyer for bags of this? Would bullion dealers (coin, not jewelry) be interested in something like this?

Only at a discount as they would likely send it to their refiner.
Instead of getting 500 oz. of shot I would take that $6K and get 12 boxes of halves from the bank and try to get some silver for FV, dump and repeat as necessary. HH Mark

Sinking money into boxes of halves and HOPING to score silver wouldn't seem to make much sense right now with silver spot being so low. If I can get extra cash this week, I'll probably buy a small bag of silver shot and then sell it to my local dealer along with the sterling scrap I just bought when silver heads toward $20 again. I just can't see passing up buying silver outright at the moment instead of hoping there might be silver in a box of halves but then waste my time getting nothing but clads.

YES, by all means "Very well said"! To each their own. Personally I am at 713 ozt for the year at a FV cost of $1773- you do the math. But you go ahead and buy the casting grain, and be sure to enlighten us what your dealer says when you go to sell. HH Mark

I apologize that came off wrong. In my situation I have yet to find a branch willing to order a box for me. I'd have to drive 40 mins to get one to consider the request. So I like roll hunting but with the time of driving to get 15 "we don't have any" and one "we have 2" and gas involved, it just isn't as good for the money as outright buying right now, for me.

The shot seems like a good buy. A refiner wouldn't care what form it was in and they do their own assay work.

No offense taken, Kurr. Some people buy rolls and boxes and sort them from a hobbyist's perspective. I'm pretty much just buying junk silver and occasional .999 rounds from a couple dealers and from eBay, just for the silver content. I might be more of a numismatist if I had the time, but sleep and work keep interfering.

So, has anyone taken the plunge and bought silver "shot"? My trigger finger is getting itchy looking at the 100 oz bag for under 1k FRN's....

Maybe I'll have to be the pioneer for the forum..

Boldly go where no man has gone before. I wouldn't, but you should.... Hehe.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Silver shot would be hard to get rid of after you open it, if you open it. APMEX would buy it back but even though there is demand for silver out there, there is not much demand for silver in shot form. Personally I would settle for bars and rounds instead...you would get more premium for them...perhaps in the future I will buy a small bag of silver shot but not at this time, it just doesnt seem to be investment type silver.

My opinion...neat to have but not for investment purposes. Hell I may be wrong and silver may be soscarce and rare in the future than shot will be the thing everyone wants. I mean what if you had a bag of gold shot
