BoA to close credit cards for approximately 60% of customers?

"I work in Credit Department at BoA (Senior Level Credit Analysist Boa Bldg 3rd fl, Char, NC). We just received memo indicating that all BoA credit cards are being closed as of 10/1. Credit score and income do not matter, all accounts are closed as of 10/1." Executive VP Bank of America

"This is true, but not as bad as he/she says. We are closing accounts, but only ones with credit scores under 750. We will reopen cards within a year as long as crisis lessens." - J.mcmanus / VP Credit Dept BOA

iReport Sept. 28, 2008

AntiSpin: We do not have independent confirmation but if true the event is significant – the number of credit card holders with scores under 750 is 60% percent of the population.

No way - that can't be true. Might be a good idea - but not true.

Good webinar on credit cards

Link is here (make up an name and email if you don't want to put yours in to get to the WebEx based seminar)

You must be logged in to see this link.

Webinar runs 48 minutes and discusses the outlook for credit card companies (not good) and ranks them in terms of investor priorities (i.e. who as an investment will go south first)

Bottom Line: C(r)apital One is thought to be the first to have trouble while American Express will hang on the longest

Even if you are not holding the stocks of these companies this might help you predict if and when your credit card limits will be lowered and/or you will no longer be able to use your credit card.

And yes credit card limits are being lowered...see

Right now most banks are starved for cash. Some are taking short cuts to get cash, even if it means paying a higher price later.

Heard a rumor one bank would cut the amount on a credit card down if you paid cash for the balance. Has anyone else heard this, might there be any support for this?

If the banks have started to cut down on credit card limits I expect to see more people getting kicked out of their homes and going hungry.

Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ.

Still another rumor concerning BofA-

Breakdown Approaches Climax

...This from a friend in Atlanta with strong banking connections: “Reliable word that Bank of America branch managers just received a letter or memo from the USFed instructing them to perhaps be ready for a one-week universal shut-down of the banking system, including access to checking accounts, savings accounts and credit cards. Reliable word has it that BofA bank branches received a shipment of signs last week, reading “WE'RE SORRY, BUT DUE TO CIRCOMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, WE CANNOT BE OPEN AT THIS TIME.”

***********************
What is that old maxim on Wall Street-
"Sell on the rumor
buy on the news" or something like that?

If your bank or credit union is open on Saturday, it wouldn't hurt to take some cash out in case this rumor proves to be true.

"U.S. Ships 800 Billion "AMEROS" to China; prepares to De-Monetize U.S. Dollar

The US Secretary of the Treasury has informed the China Development Bank that the US has shipped $800 Billion of a new currency called the Amero, which is to be based upon the merging of the economies of The United States, Mexico and Canada into what is termed as The North American Union.

The current American debt obligation to China, currently based on the US Dollar, is now estimated to be the staggering sum of $2.5 Trillion, and which this new Amero will be exchanged for $400 Billion of this debt as the current American currency is set to be devalued by 50 percent before the end of the year. "

-Could this be the time they are going to do this? Apparently the congress was threatened with martial law in the streets if they did not vote yea on the bailout. Intentionaly crash the dollar and bring in the amero? Prepping the banks early?

The problem with the internet is that anyone can quickly, cheaply and widely print thier poorly conceived ideas. I'm not saying anything against our member who is just reporting the rumor - I just want to point out the newsletter writer's own bio on the bottom of the quoted page:

"Jim Willie CB is a statistical analyst in marketing research and retail forecasting. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics. His career has stretched over 24 years. He aspires to thrive in the financial editor world, unencumbered by the limitations of economic credentials."

This gives me an idea for a new career... I have decided to aspire to thrive in the medical doctor world, unencumbered by the limitations of medical credentials. Anyone need a new doctor - I work for cheap!

You are right about all the stuff on the internet, Legacypac.

Separating facts from fiction isn't always easy.

Is Bank Of America in trouble or is it only a rumor? With the financial meltdown bringing down some of the largest and supposedly most stable banks, it is tough to tell who will be left standing when this financial mess finally winds down.

While we should question the credentials of the messenger and his reasons behind spreading his message, we should not ignore the message outright. Something is rotten in the state of banking, any non-expert can see that, yet the experts either ignore or downplay the problems.

Consider the housing bubble blogs for a minute. The majority who set up housing blogs and who predicted the bubble in housing and its eventual bursting were not experts in the field of housing. Few if any were members of the NAR. They were men and women who looked at the prices and said "something's out of whack" and tried to get their message out. Now they have been vindicated due to the declining house prices, the increase in foreclosures, the Fed taking over Fannie and Freddie, etc.

Those who foresaw the trouble in housing were not experts in housing by any means, yet the vast majority who were experts in housing didn't see the danger. So much for the wisdom of housing experts.

Do your own research, make up your own mind, but please, do not discount the advice of non-experts since the experts are often ( sometimes too often) blinded by their own ability and success.

Nope.. no worse than any of the others. They just passed my own independent test. I just got back from Bank of America and they had 24 boxes of pennies and a box of half dollars for me.

WAMU cut me off on penny shipments months before they failed. I picked them specifically to fail in legacypac's first contest. Unfortunately, those $#%$#%^#^ government workers were just too dang slow shutting it down.

In August 2007, rumors and conspiracy theories began circulating across the Internet regarding alleged United States Treasury-issued "amero" coins.

The inspiration behind these rumors may have been the posting of images of medallions created by coin designer Daniel Carr.[1] Carr, who designed the New York and Rhode Island 2001 statehood quarters, sells medals and tokens of his own design on his commercial website, "Designs Computed" (also known as "DC Coin").[1] Among his designs are a series of gold, silver and copper fantasy issues of "amero coins" ranging in denomination from one to one thousand.[1] The coins have the legend "Union of North America" on the back with his company's logo, a stylized "DC",[20] in small type.[21] Concerning his "amero" designs, he mentions on his website:

“ My goal with these coins is not to endorse a Union of North America or a common "Amero" currency. I fully support the United States Constitution, and I would not welcome (in any form) a diminishment of its provisions. I expect that these coins will help make more people aware of the issue and the possible ramifications. I leave it up to others to decide if they are in favor of, or against a North American Union. And I encourage citizens to voice their approval or disapproval of government plans that impact them.[22] ”

Unauthorized postings of images taken from his website have been reposted widely across the Internet, often being used as supposed "proof" of the amero coinage. Notably, former Internet radio talk show host Hal Turner ran a full article on his website about the "amero coin", claiming to have arranged for a United States Government minted "amero" to be smuggled out of the Treasury Department by an employee of that organization.[23]

Following Turner's assertions of federal minting of ameros, a web site marketing the curio coins released a statement debunking Turner's claims of a government cover up regarding Daniel Carr's amero products.[24] The debunking website Snopes also ran a further debunking of Turner's claims, stating:

"Neither the U.S. Mint nor the U.S. Treasury has a hand in creating these 'Ameros'. These coins are merely collectibles offered to the buying public by a private company in the business of manufacturing such curiosities."[25]

Hal Turner claimed that Carr's website had been created in haste in a matter of days expressly to discredit his claim about the coinage. [26] However, Carr's designs have been available through his website since 2005,[27] and according to a WHOIS search at Network Solutions, the domain "dc-coin.com" was registered by Daniel Carr on 27 September 2005.[28]

If so, good. Dave Ramsey will be happy. But, I can't even imagine that this would be true.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

There's certainly seems to have been a lot of talk about an economic union to over come the "economic power" of the EU.
I don't doubt that "secret unofficial" talks have happened.

I'll never know until I hear a law/agreement/understanding has been passed via the mainstream press.

As far as the I-net goes, just believe what you think makes sense.

Oh, I for got to add a Baaaah, just to show I'm a good sheeple, in the mean time I'll look for Ag at face and Cu subsidized by the mint.

There's profit if you melt things!!
