When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government,
By dividing the voters through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance.
-----full quote-----
"Capital must protect itself in every possible manner by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, bonds and mortgages must be foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government, applied by a central power of wealth under control of leading financiers. This truth is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of Capital to govern the world. By dividing the voters through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance. Thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves what has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished."- USA Banker's Magazine, August 25 1924

If you missed this interview (like I did) of Aaron Russo circa 2007, it is a must see. Rest in peace.

"When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government..."
During the Great Depression, WWI vets marched on and camped in Washington DC to persuade congress to pay them bonuses early that they had been promised.
The situation turned ugly and US Troops and tanks were called in to dispperse the crowds.
In the 1960's marches and protests were held, sometimes peaceful, sometimes otherwise. The world had changed from the mindset of the 1920's where the masses will just obey because they are expected to.
It has been said "when people have nothing, they have nothing to lose" we can't be sure that rioting and violence won't happen if things get bad enough.
Bad times ahead I'm afraid. |

Russo was a smart and though I didn't know him, a really swell guy. He and his questions are missed.

| I will add that many people have too much to lose by trying to speak out. Think about folks who say they saw UFOs. They get ridiculed. The average American knows they will get no traction by speaking out when they have a job, social standing, friends, etc. at risk, if they get political. As nice as we play with our social rules and laws and basic good manners, people do not want to believe also that their own government would turn guns on them if they decided to storm the Bastille. |

| "For those who marvel at our ability to stagger from crisis to crisis without experiencing a disaster and think we can continue indefinitely to overload our economic and social system with laws of plunder and legislative nonsense, I will remind you that the man who is guillotined is breathing right up to the moment the blade hits his neck" ...
