Any idea on the composition of these? Seem to be copper. Early sixties years. If copper, any idea what they are worth? Thanks in advance.

I have a bunch of them. Lots of copper in 'em.

What's the answer? Perspiring minds want to know..

97% copper, 0.5% tin, 2.5% zinc alloy is what I found. A guy had several of them, as well as half pennies and three pence coins, all from the early sixties and all uncirculated. He wanted 35˘ each. I got one of each for free when I purchased some Franklin's. I found some on eBay for like 5 bucks. As usual I probably missed out....

I have a lot of these 1877 being the oldest and 1967 being the newest. I try to always carry one in my “Levi extra right pocket”. Whenever the discussion of cent vice penny comes up, I pull it out and say “no that is a cent-this is a penny”. OK that hasn’t happened yet, but when it does it’ll be pretty cool.
I think the Britannia image is one of the best coin images.

Happy sorting
