Poll Question:
Let's say for this example you have $25,000 to invest in precious metals. Your goal is not short term profits but more for security and peace of mind. You plan on holding the commodity for at least ten years before you sell; if you sell at all! How would you invest?

I remember the saying, "Never put all your eggs in one basket."
Deal |
Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

| I would be inclined to invest in metals that have broader applications than just as money / jewelry and the more uses the more of it I would want to hold. |

By value, I'd go for:
30% silver 30% copper 20% nickel 15% gold 5% platinum

30% copper 25% silver 20% gold 5% nickels(4%US CuNi, 1% CAN .999) 20% FRN, 2 reasons-buying oportunities do arise and you wont want to miss one, metals could fall and it never hurts to be able to have some cash. Or a new model ryedale comes out!
wow that looks like my hoard .

| I think silver is the best deal going right now--especially if you look at the silver to gold ratio--buy silver now and as the ratio changes swap some silver for gold... |

Rhodium - If a reputable mint sold coins for close to bullion value, I'd consider it. Platinum/Palladium: Definitely. One, the other, or both. Gold - Definitely Silver - Definitely Copper/Nickel/Other - Too bulky to handle and less liquid.
So that puts my bet at either: 1/3 Platinum, 1/3 Gold, 1/3 Silver OR 1/6 Platinum, 1/6 Palladium, 1/3 Gold, 1/3 Silver

| I want some palladium and rhodium oz bars....but I cant find anywhere close to spot, and I'm too cheap to pay a huge premium! Especially when I wont get it back when I go to sell it back to the dealer... |

I choose 1/3 gold 1/3 silver 1/3 copper. to me gold holds its value the best. You never see it take a plunge like rhodium, platinum,or even palladium |

| I can't see investing on copper too much with that. I'd likely invest in a ryedale and put away my copper at a discount. |

i would stick with PM's because the others are very illiquid. Avoid Platinum becuase its high priced and palladium is much cheaper and a good substitute. 1/6 to 1/3 palladium, rest evenly split between gold and silver.
copper pennies are sort of outside the box to me. no risk, potential high reward strategy/hobby. |
Buying: Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00 copper cents at 1.3X wheat pennies at 3X

You mean measured in terms of dollars and not ounces, right?
I'd do 75% gold, 25% palladium. Palladium can't get much lower than it is right now.
You can always add the silver later on. |

I'm close to Coinhunters, but slightly different:
50% silver 25% Gold 12.5% Palladium(at current prices) 12.5% Nickel
As others said, copper can be had with a Ryedale. |

Gold is Money and has been for thousands of years. Silver has the best abilty to go up in value.

I'd really like to invest in what ever is down that I expect to go up. Do you know any crystal balls that clearly devine the future? I think Ag will show the best return on investment in the next year or two. But, I've always wanted Gold and Platinum... Lead is a good "hedge fund" if TSHTS, I can't help but want some of that too (especially in double aught buckshot form)!
