Onza = ounce Plata = silver Pura = pure
In 1941 the Prado Government set up Banco Minero (mining or mineral bank) as a national development bank for the mining industry. The bank financed small miners, but went well beyond simple finance and cheap credit for miners. It purchased or set up concentrators, bought ore, and got involved in importing mining equipment from the USA. Also involved in negotiating war time contracts with the Americans.
The bank has been involved in many mineral related business directly and indirectly. It went into liquidation sometime in the early 1990s.
Thanks for sharing - I've never seem one before. This 1 ounce silver bar is/was pretty much backed by the Peruvian government and is very cool in my opinion. Did you buy it?

Hi all,
Awesome find. I love foreign gold/silver coins/bullion. While you're on the topic of Peru, I recently got my hands on 22 Peruvian Soles. They are nice coins, the same size as silver Dollars, but they are only .5 fine. Still cool!

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

Since I did all that research, in my VERY limited Spanish no less, how about trading your spare bar for a nice new still in the plastic 2010 Olympics Maple Leaf like this one? You must be logged in to see this link. They sell at the dealer for a premium over the regular Maple Leafs, and even more on ebay. Or if you don't like Canadian, how about a nice Mexican Onza. |
