Chalk me up for one more. 1895, I think, the 9 is smeared and almost looks like an 8. Found it this morning while sifting through my zinc bucket getting ready for todays dump...I thought that I was due.

I got a mighty nice '03 mailed to me for Father's day.
My son, who works as a cashier, swears it came out of a roll the last person who used the till broke open.
I got nine so far, but only 2 from my very own actual sorting.
Does that at least get me a "Hidey-Ho" To The Chief?

There's profit if you melt things!!

Welcome to the Rational Thinkers Only Club Mooski. Be carefull around members of the wild Indian cult. Whatever they have, its contagious.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

After an initial flurry of three indian heads in my first 1500 sorted, I have gone a long time 3-4 thousand empty handed. I feel like I am about to reclaim my indian head virginity and become a rational thinker. Was it all a dream? It has been so long since seeing one, I can barely remember. Am I going to wake up and find out JR was never shot?

Still no wild indians found in this Rational Thinker's penny bins. But can anyone claim this find.... a 1942 Cu Newfoundland One Cent featuring a crowned George VI and a pretty flower on the reverse.

A little internet research on cointalk shows Mintage 1,996,889. The value VG-8 .50, F-12 $1.00, VF-20 $1.50,EF-40 $3.00,AU-50 $12.00. These values are in $CDN. Newfoundland 1942 1c. coin was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa, the 'C' mintmark was inadvertently left off the coin, due to an oversight in the inspection of the dies before they were put into the coining machine. It looks to be exactly the same size as a Canadian penny of the era.

So at a total mintage below 2 million, this Newfoundland Penny is likely rarer then all varieties of Indian Heads except 1877, 1908S and 1909S. It must have had an interesting 66 year trip from the Rock all the way to the Pacific Coast, and surviving almost 59 of those years as a penny without a country.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw.

I finally found one! *w000t*

1881, probably AG3 on obverse due to corrosion, but still identifiable.

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

I have found 3, yes 3 more wild Indians, since I posted here last. This morning I found a 1898 in a pile of zincs that came out of 4 reject Brinks boxes.

The boxes were so light that I almost took them back to a bank without opening them. Aside from loads of zincs and the Indian, the boxes contained 1 Canadian King and less than 1% copper, almost all of which were mid-70s. So they obviously came from somebodies machine sorted dump.

I don't think they were from one of my dumps as I miss some goodies, but not that many.

That is correct. 19 for the year and 26 total. Just over half-way to my goal of completing an entire roll.
