Wow, yesterday a 1909-VDB and I was just about to wrap things up for the night just now when an 1887 cent just dropped into my copper pile!! And it only took me 460,000 pennies before I found one!! (unless I missed one earlier being a newbie to Indian hunting) This was also out of a Brinks box, one that I picked up yesterday.

NotABigDeal and TenBears, keep on looking and keep on hoping, guys. Yours are out there somewhere.

Well congratulations, I guess.... (Another one bites the dust).

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Nooooooooooooooooo!! Not Nickelless! Not a faithful Rational Thinker! We told you to wash your hands after sorting so that you wouldn't become infected with the wild Indian pathogen. Do you now believe in Santa and little rainbow colored unicorns?

(Congratulations on your find. TenBears' day will come.)

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

I don't believe it! You are just trying to cause unrest amongst the Rational Thinkers.

Wild Indians almost never drop into a copper pile. They are much more often discovered hanging out in the "zinc" pile.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

OOPS, you're right Hoard, I was delirious with excitement and exhaustion when I posted this morning, the IH dropped into my zinc pile, not my copper pile.

Now I'd better get busy sorting so I can keep my edge over TenBears and Deal. Well, on second thought, I guess they'd have to believe in wild Indians for them to be competition, wouldn't they?

Great!
With that many sorted, you should expect 3 more quick ones - 1 per 125,000.

Well Tim, like an idiot I'd been looking primarily in the copper pile until just recently, so there may be some Indians that I've missed--which just means there are a few more out there for the rest of you.

I found my 1909 VDB in the first $50.00 dollar bag I bought. I have sorted 12 $50.00 bulk bags since.

My indian head poped up when I cashed a 4.00 check and she asked if I wanted it in rolls of pennies to go with the bags I bought.

Got in the car and put rolls in console. Guess who was looking at me in opened end roll. yep my first Indian 1897. Was hoping the whole roll were indians, but to no avail.

Took $504.00 of hand sorten before i found one.

IF wild indians exist, why have I not found one yet? I've sorted a lot of copper out and dumped untold anunts of coin. I've got over $300 face in zinc and steel just waiting to be rolled as I wait for time to find a high speed rolling machine.

I do believe that some of you believe you found wild indians and that you may find more yet.

Ask a stupid question, Legacypac, how many old U.S. pennies do you find in Canada?? But don't you live near the border?

Not a stupid question at all. 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border, and I'm about 20 min from the closest crossing. I find LARGE amounts of US pennies and nickels. Often find whole rolls and groups of rolls of US pennies and nickels. In nickel sorting I've accumulated nearly 3 boxes of Jeffs and 5 silver war nickels.

I actually sort out the US zinc and deposit them across the border by the box. I've found a fair number of wheats, but generally toss them in a bin with the kings to sort later when I want to build some sets.

After all the pennies processed I just this AM found my very first TWO George V pennies (the regal looking king with a crown). A 1932 and 1933 in the same roll. Very early on I did find two George V nickels from the 1920's. Think I've found a couple of 1920's and 30's wheats as well.

These coins are all several decades younger then the non-existant wild indians some people fantisize about.

I knew it! I knew it! Thanks for the clarification on which pile the wild Indians tend to roam in Nickelless and welcome to the cult.

Hope you get a high speed rolling machine soon, legacypac. Sounds like you are going to give that poor RS a heart attack.
