I am new to sorting pennies, have only sorted about $200.00 so far by hand, but my last two boxes were great.

Both of the boxes were sealed Brinks boxes with the pennies wrapped in the plastic rollers.

The first box I found nine dimes stuck in between, and not icky dimes that look like pennies, real shiny dimes.

The second box I found a 1909 VDB. I couldn't believe it when I found it. At first I thought it was a 1969 until I brought it in the bathroom lighting and saw it was a 1909. I immediately turned it over looking for the VDB but couldn't see it at first until I tilted the penny and there it was.

Originally I started saving the pennies for the copper, I didn't realize there was still wheat pennies in circulation. Wish I would have started this years ago.

I feel very lucky to part of the 1909 VDB club.

Welcome to the forum. Too bad there was no S on the obverse. Thanks for joining and post well and often!

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I've wanted a 1909 VBD ever since I started collecting pennies back in '63. (It would be really great if it grew an S.)
I finally found one in my Brinks box last week. I was totally amazed!
I got a 1910 and a 1913 in a box this week.
Could Feathered Liberty be that far away?
I'm trying to stay rational, but ...

Forget Ration.. if you were rational you wouldn't be finding 1909 VDB's in your Brinks boxes. I have only found a couple of those myself, but I found 9 Feathered Liberties last year and 12 so far this year.

Welcome to the Forum MRBONG.. Great find!

You gotta improve the lighting in your sorting area so you don't miss any feathered liberties. I can just imagine your significant other pounding on the bathroom door.. "What the heck are you doing in there?!" "I'm looking at pennies"

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Glad to have you in the club and on the forum, MRBONG. I'm a brand new VDB'er myself and know how good it feels!
