One of the shipments I got today was a flat rate box containing 10,105 copper cents! This beats my record of 10,000 coppers in a single shipment by over 2 rolls!
I won't say who shipped it to maintain the privacy of that person, but they know who they are and can reveal their identity if they choose to do so.

Any tips on how to package shipments that large and keep them intact. Also what Flat rate box is used, the rectangular one or the cube shape? |

My US Post Office refused my last flat rate package because it was at or over their 70 lb scale capacity and they claimed a 70 lb limit. Took out a few bags of pennies to knock it down to 65 lbs. Do you guys get limited to 70 lbs?
For the question of how - see the thread at the top of the members only section. |

| Yes limited to 70lbs, and they aren't too happy to take my boxes when they are a hair under 70. Often times they make me lift them onto the scale myself. |

Yes, There is a 70 pound max weight limit. I believe I still hold the domestic weight record at 69 pounds, 15.6 ounces. That was only 10,000 pennies though. The pennies were rolled and in boxes 3 across on the bottom and then the remaining 50 rolls were placed in tyvek envelopes and layed across the top.
The key to shipping large amounts of pennies is lots of tape and making sure the box is well packed so there is no shifting of weight when the post office abuses the package. Then just think to yourself.. if the post office "accidently" drops this package, where is the box most likely to fail? You also want to use interior packaging that is well sealed and will not leak pennies if they somehow manage to bust the box open. I have a few hints in the insider section, but I am constantly refining my technique. |
