I was just placing my very first order since setting up my APMEX account, but I don't see a "checkout" button to pay. Is there a process that a first-time user has to go through before placing an order online?

Go to your shopping cart (link is in the middle at the top). As long as you have the minimum amount in your cart ($50) there will be a place at the bottom of the cart page to either sign in or to create an account. After you sign in or create an account there will be a button to "Begin Checkout."

Actually, I think the problem was my browser. I normally use Firefox, and nothing was happening after I typed in the quantity of bags to order, but when I tried it in IE, a javascript box popped up for confirmation and I was able to trade $700 in FRNs for real money.

How high is the shipping there? I was looking at their $1000 bags of silver and the price seemed pretty reasonable.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Huh...I just used FireFox today to place an order and didn't have any trouble with the pop-up box. I do occasionally have problems printing international shipping labels with the PayPal Java-based service though.

Depends on your payment method. If you pay with plastic they add about 3% of your order total to the shipping cost. Looks like $24.95 shipping for a $1000 bag if you mail the payment.

That is actually pretty reasonable on shipping. I think a bag weighs about 55 pounds.
