It has to do with the "no shoulder strap" variety. I read somewhere and now I can't find it to save my life, that when they modified the dies they also altered something that had to do with the wording around the coin.

I think the "I" was changed(I don't remember for sure), that is how one could tell a fake from the real NSS.

If anybody can clue me in I would appreciate it.
