I went to the bank a few months back and talked to a guy i new in there and told him i was getting LMC's to sort for the copper. he looked at me and told me I was crAzy! All my friends think i am crazy b/c they throw pennies away and i ask them to give me there copper ones. Anyone else have that problem. No telling what they would think if the new i kept nickels

tell them you will pay them cash money for pennies.
My family knows that I sort, and a few of them have given me their piggy banks. They didnt want payment, but they gave them to me. |

Don't mention the copper. Just tell the bank employees that you collect old pennies. We don't want our copper supply to dry up. |

Yea, we are all crazy and need to dump our copper hoards in exchange for paper money.
Well, when the price of copper goes up at least 10 fold that is :) |

| I've been told by my family that it's a "penny fetish" an "obsession" and a waste of time. My girl saves the copper pennies she finds in circulation for me. Most people will never get the point of hoarding inflation proof copper dollars. But this is only natural. What's right is never popular, what's popular is never right. :) |

Sure will be fun to be able to tell my wife I told you so when I am hauling those $25.00 bricks up out of the basement and getting $250.00 for them.
I hope I live long enough for that to happen. If I die before I get rid of my copper bricks she says she is taking them to the bank and dumping them at face value. Oh well I guess if she wants to dump $100,000.00 worth of coins at the bank for $10,000.00 that is her loss. |

its only human nature to reject a message that so fundamentally disagrees with how this guy conducts his life. that is why i try to purposefully read differing points of views on economic and other important matters.
i'll give you an even better example. we homeschool our child. my wife has an extensive education, but we think its more important for her to stay home than to earn a paycheck. a lof of people move to our neighborhood because for the area it has the best public school. So when you tell them you are homeschooling implicitly you are telling them that not only do you believe the school they selected is crap, but that all public schools are crap. my guess is that if they took the time to understand our decisions, that they would disagree with us. so we don't advertise.
this guy calling you crazy can't wrap his mind around the fact that 99% of what passes through his hands as "money" is worthless, and the 1% that does have intrinsic value he quickly got rid of. its easier to dismiss you as crazy than to have ideas like that challenge his current beliefs.
personally, i just fib. I tell people i'm looking for wheats and foreign coins. if they think you have an angle they don't have, then they will resent you. |

pennies worth a dime mean copper north of $15/lb. 4X appreciation SHOULD takes some time. for silver, except for a few months in 1980, it took about 40 years to get to 10X i believe. demand for copper should be strong medium term because its used in power plants and electric cars, and india and china should have quite a build out in the next several years. if inflation gets to double digits, we could see dime pennies in no time, but realize that that scenario would not be good for a lot of other reasons - collapse of the u.s. economy. |

Because I go from bank to bank collecting 10-20 bags of pennies only to spend the next week sorting and then spending sunday night rebagging to return the bags the next week only to start all over picking up more pennies?????

admit it.... We are all a little crazy! BUT!!!! that doesn't make us WRONG!
Dont pay alot of attention to those that dont support your copper hobby.
as I said B4 if every person was as smart as you there would be no more copper left in circulation as everone would already have it hoarded.
