Ok so I see some stuff sticking out of a office dumpster. look closely and find a small shoe box with some stuff in it. Find 3 older watches from russia with broken bands etc. Then the Hand Grenade. Gently removed watches and nice swiss army knife in sheath and haul ass. I Didn't need the scrap metal that much to stick around and ask questions about where the hand grenade came from. Wow. Later.

I guess thats one way to get rid of those pesky metal scrappers....

I am a vintage watch collecter and finding something like that is very cool. Do the watches wind-up?

hmm a couple of them have some knobs broke off. one is running. One has a picture of a red star and russian tank on it. I will take a pic later when I find my camera batteries. xpohorpap is the brand on one. Bonohenpohnuembie is the brand on the tank one. Strange writing like the N's are backwards.

You found a hand grenade and just left it without calling the authorities? Maybe not call the cops, but if you have a lawyer a call to him would have gotten it taken care of without your name even ever coming up. I'm sorry, but that was very irresponsible....

Like I wanted the whole city shut down from another suspicious object. The pin was pulled anyway?

It may be inactive, or a practice piece, but you never know...

I think you should have made an anonymous call to the police...

Gotta agree with NotABigDeal on this.

it's probably one of those complaint plaques. The one where it says complaint number 1.

1. Go back to dumpster
2. Take long stick
3. Poke grenade
If it doesn't go off
4. Pickup grenade
5. Pull handle away from body
If handle won't move (may be rusty)
6. Use WD40 and a screwdriver
If it still won't go off
7. Throw at a hard surface repeatedly
If it still won't go off
8. Call Bomb Squad
9. And admit defeat....

Probably just a fake or dummy or like customer service, to take a # pull pin.

Hey did it have a little thingy on top to light a smoke...?

Seriously, you should do what Deal said, have a lawyer or someone respectable call the authorities if you don't want to.
(what was I thinking, lawyers respectable...?)

You wouldn't want some little kid to find it and take it to show and tell and have it go off now would you...?

You'd feel very stupid and guilty.

Especially after following my detailed steps...!!!

A lot of towns have police tip lines were you can report without indentifying yourself.

That's why the lawyer gets a call. The lawyer or their agent can not tell where the info was from. We have an anonymous TIPS line, but I'd feel less identifiable with a lawyers help.

We actually had some actual ordinance explode at one of the local scrap dealers here--was a big flap--I think they were artillary shells or something...

I agree with moboman. I thinkk it was probably one of those plaques. I've run into a dozen of them over the past decade in offices. But if I'm wrong...

Just the other day at this scrap yard kinda close to here they found two artillery rounds. Luckily they were already filled with concrete.

I am sure if it was a live round we would have heard about a garbage truck or a scrap guy blown sky high by now.

I definitely would have called the police. Who cares if your anonymous or not? If you didn't do anything wrong, there would be nothing to worry about. So you were looking through garbage, who cares. I would never just assume that it wasn't real. That's the problem with our society these days, no one wants to get involved. What if you saw some coming from a house, do you a assume that it's just the chimney? Or a little kid being put into a vehicle against her will? Do you assume she's just a brat and her dad has to put her in the car the hard way? Okay, those are extreme examples, but wouldn't you hate yourself if someone was hurt because you were too scared or embarrassed to let someone know? I'm not trying to preach at you Wave, but I'm just saying you just never really know nowadays.
