While buying thousands of coppers, I'm always suspicious of bright or bright mottled colored cents that make me think of zincolns 82+ vintage. Most of the time (and I mean 50%+++ of the time) these bright coppers are 1981 Philadelphia cents. Next would be 1962-64 (for some strange reason), then 1980. Do any of you witness the same boatload of red uncirculated 1981 P's???

Absolutely - the ever common 81P - you would think that they minted hundreds of billions of them!!

This probably sounds weird, but I've noticed a lot of bright, shiny 1964s and 1968s in the past $1000 or so I've picked up from several different banks.

Also...is it just my imagination, or is the date more deeply stamped on 1964s and 1968s than on a lot of other dates? Or is this just a weird batch I've been getting?

I am noticing many 1968 pennies usually have a nice luster, and yes, the stamped relief on them are more pronounced. On the other hand, many of the 1990's era issued pennies show dates wearing off easily.

On some occasions, those 1968 pennies are still very nice and shiny and clean looking on the obverse side while the memorial side is corroded heavily with green build-up. I have taken to throwing them in a film container with some baking soda solution in it. I just can not get myself to throw them away, lol.

I have gotten quite a few shiny '64s & '81s lately.

I got a pair of shiney '59s and a '46 that is just starting to darken in spots recently too.

I get alot of the '68, '64 and the '81s alot. Good mix really tho low 60's up to '81. Recently I started pulling them from the copper seperate to maybe sell in a batch. The mostly shiney ones that stand out good, have about half a crown royal bag full now. One more thing to collect, lol.
