I read somewhere that China wants to build more nuclear power plants for electricity.
Since lead is one material that blocks radiation, it would make sense that lead would be used in either the construction of nuclear power plants or lead lined clothing would be worn by employees of the power plants.
Of course, it will take several years before the plants are up and running, but the decade long demand for copper by China and Asia is what is fueling the copper boom today, so the demand for lead in the future might make lead the next metal to hoard.
Will lead be the next nickel? The future certianly will be "interesting times" indeed.
Lead has went up these past few days by about $0.06 ; It is now up to $0.81 and the outlook is good. I foresee a minimum of $1.00 /lb. by 01-01-08. _____________________________________________________________________
Copper Advances as Stockpiles Decline; Lead Climbs to Record - Bloomberg, May 31 2007 7:24AM
Lead advanced $35 to a record $2,325 a ton. Earlier, it traded at $2,330.25 beating the high set yesterday by $40.10. Supply of the metal used in batteries ``looks extremely tight in 2007,'' Jim Lennon, executive director of commodities research at Macquarie Bank Ltd. in London, said May 28.
There has been a surge in the Lead price lately. It has more than double in a year ($1 to $2.25) and surge by 25 cent in just a month. I was right to store that big lead-copper cable. I'll wait for lead to reach $3 to sell.
I keep those lead wheel weights I find in parking lots. It all adds up... my jar is now hodling a few pounds of lead. And the price of lead just keeps going up.
