Well, I'd like to say that I've been bit by the penny hoarding bug too! I picked up my first box and a half today. My credit union only had $25 of rolls (no box), do I picked those up, and the Webster branch downtown told me I had to have an account with them to buy a box at a time. I was told that I even need an account with them to drop off the pennies I don't want. This was even after I told them the box of pennies was for a summer project for my 8 year old to start a penny collection... I mean really, how hard would have it been for them to sell me one box of pennies, the teller said they had pleanty in the vault too.... untilthe head teller came by ;-( But, they did sell me $10 worth of CWR, so I was happy to get that, and somehow they wound up giving me change for a $25 bill instead of a $20 bill... Found that out later when I went to eat with my 8year old (whom is also excited to sort the pennies!). So I guess I'm already ahead of the game ;-)
so here I am introducing myself, and my 8 year old son, to fellow hoaders. Looks like we're among some good people here ;-)
I found out about this forum from "lasersteve's" gold reclaiming forum... Yah, you should see my garage, it's full of old computer cases waiting to be hauled off tot he scrap yard ;-)

It is a requirement upon joining that you either get into the Indian head thread or the Rational thinkers club. Poke around and find those. |

I think those Indian Head guys exclude Texans. Not very PC if you ask me. |

Welcome to the board and the wonderful world of penny hoarding!

Welcome to the site. Post well and post often.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

We would include Texans, but none of them ever find Indians.. LOL.
Welcome to the forum Exibar. Better hurry up and get those computer cases hauled down to the scrap yard.. You are going to need the garage space to store you hoard of copper. |

Welcome to the board, still looking for those wild indians here in texas as well, it does seem that we may have domesticated all of them already. Tried to fool myself once and accidentally knocked one into the sort bag, but gee I knew he looked awefully familiar. |

Eight year old boys are also known as "zinc slaves" on this sight. The come in mighty handy. Mine is most useful in sharing my enthusiasm for sorting and finding when my wife has run our of it. |

Welcome aboard Mike, You may have to open several accounts. A couple accounts for dump banks and a couple for supply banks. What works well for me is to put in an order every week with my supply banks. That way they can order pennies for me and they don't have to worry about depleting their supply. Be honest with your banks. Tell them when you open the account that you want to order 4 or 6 boxes or how ever many you want to order each week, and tell your dump banks that you search pennies and will be depositing large amounts of pennies each week. |

Exibar go back to the bank that over paid your change of $5.00. if you know the person he will be glad as they have to make up any shotages if you cant find this person check with the head teller it pays to be honest as they will remember you as the nice guy that comes in for rolls of CWR they are glad to get rid of all the extra coins that they have to store, worked for me now they call me when they get a load of coins in. a batch of cookies or candy works like a charm. also take your son along to see he has an honest father this lesson is well worth the $5.00 you return WELCOME TO the club PEACE! |
