Hi,
I have one of those coins as well. It's a one ounce silver round. I carry it in my pocket.
I use it at banks when I'm buying pennies - "I'm looking for 'Wheat Backs' like this".
Oh, and I'm also looking for all the coins that were minted before 1982 as well... :)

Welcome to the madness aka realcent forum. You are pretty close to me - I live just across the border in BC but we will not be hurting each other's percentages :) |

Here are the pictures, the coin is in a sealed plastic case and I didnt realize how hard it was to take pictures of silver coins in plastic cases. I need to hook up a scanner!

it looks to be 1.5" diagonal and 1/8" thick.

this guy was packing up as I saw this coin. I just had to have it! I wish I had seen him before he was leaving. This guy had all kinds of silver and lots of it. Every different kind of art bar/round. Silver eagles... everything! He even had some indian head silver oz rounds, but he was shoving them into tubes when I walked up, so i didnt get any.
I picked up some other stuff at the show, but this is by far the coolest thing I got today. just thought I would share it with you guys on realcent since you are all penny addicted! |

I got my silver coin for spot +.75, the normal price that my local coin dealer charges me.
I take in my Zincolns, and he counts them, and instead of paying a 5% fee, he waives it because I buy silver and gold from him.
I'm now also buying all the pennies and nickels that he collects from other people that bring their couns in to be counted, and sort / hoard those as well.
He knows I'm 'copper hunting', so he lets me go thru his Canadian 'spenders' that he has accumulated. So I pick up all the pre 96 pennies, and pre 99 nickels at par. (We don't quibble over the exchange rate - plus my biggest 'score' with CDN coinage is about $10 face.)
So I don't have a dump 'problem' that needed solving - and I effectively convert my savings from electrons at the bank to Cu, Ni, Ag or Au.
Plus, the silver penny also makes a nice card cap when I'm playing poker... :)

I dont think I'll ever sell mine, unless I need to or the price is too good to pass up. |
