I think another option should be, have you sold any. I'm interested to see if anyone has sold them at face.

Like the forever stamp, I will only part with the copper pennies if it is of last resort. Like if I needed the money due to it being my last cent....

Ultra-poor man's gold I suppose, but glad to see there are others interested in some kind of hedge. It is fun to see what you find too when you sort coins. I suppose playing the lottery could be a rush too, but the pay-off math on that front is not as fun as when you get 30% copper yields in your rolls of pennies, IMHO.

That's not selling them. That exchanging them for fiat at face value. But I know of former members who have done that for what ever their reason(s) was/were.

OK, I admit it.. I may have sold 1 or 2.

I have even sold zincolns for a profit. And I once sold an "unsearched" box of memorials on eBay for $30 plus $10 shipping.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Why would I sell any of my meager hoard? I'm trying to make a penny mattress. Selling seems counterintuitive to hoarding. Once I start selling, if ever, I will no longer be hoarding.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

With 6 seperate bidders the auction is at $75 bid for $50 face of copper. A little over an hour to go.

To get 50% over face, after the time, materials and fees required, not sure if it would be classified as profitable... yet. But you can recoupe so capital to sort more!

Why do I need a supply bank when HCBTT will deliver the unsearched pennies to my door for only 1.6X face? Maybe I can even get a volume discount. No hassles preordering or doing bank drive-bys. No breaking my back, postman delivers it to my doorstep. With the price of gas these days, that is a pretty good deal! Where do I sign up?

Yes I actually have sold most of my meager hoard, only a couple hundred dollars face, but I am just doing that so I can afford to buy more pennies and silver. I have limited capital so it makes cents for me to sell the coppers for more than face so I can afford to search more.

Not yet....my hoard is so small that one might say "hey that's cute...what is it going to be when it grows up?"

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I've sold some for a profit.

Traded some. Never sold any.

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I have not sold any yet and I don't plan on selling any unless things get really bad or I can get at least 5 or 6 times face. As long as my percentages don't fall off too much I am going to just keep on stacking it up.

COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

Well it all started one day when the lady of the house asked me "What site are you on now?"

"I am on the penny hoarding board" I replied.

"Well you better get on the penny unhoarding board!" she responded.

That is how those ebay auctions started.. long before there was really a market.
Sell one.. sneak 2 more in the back door.. repeat.. works for me!

Andy says "Hoard copper pennies, the market will develop."
Sometimes you just have to go out and develop the market.

I offered two $50 lots on Ebay two weeks ago when I thought I needed some cash. But the buyer got thoroughly confused by the numbers (one box in the picture, two boxes in the lot, two lots available) and we finally just cancelled the deal. So I still have the coins.

I'm selling when the prices get real again (currently $70 range) to get the rydale so I can do some real hoarding. I've sold 3 (pair) so far. I've got about 5 more boxes ready.

I have sold 1 batch for more than face value. It will be a long time before I break even. If I sold every coin I have right now I might recover most of my costs. It didn't help that I spent a lot of money trying to develop my own coin sorting machine, and then the Ryedale sorter came around, which was far superior to what I could have built.

One problem at the moment is that the spot price is down 10%, around $3.60 instead of $4.00. On Ebay a $50 lot used to go for $110, now it might be $60 or it might not sell at all. Ten pounds seems to be the best selling size, but even then they don't always sell. But that is no problem at all if you don't try to sell!

They got far bigger problems at the border then my coin habit. Read today about over 30 people arrested on both sides of the border. Seized 360 KG!!! of cocaine, several thousand kg of pot, $3.6 million in cash, and guns. A local car dealer and his sales manager are the alleged head of the operation. They used hollowed out logs on trucks, a retrofited propane truck, lumber, and even hand carry to move the drugs and cash back and forth. They were even "insuring" the BC growers safe delivery into the US, paying for any losses just like an insurance company.

Why would either country care if I move a box of pennies for my collection, or to trade with my fiends?

I hope the market does not slip too much. I can feel an "I TOLD YOU SO" coming from my wife. I am not too worried about it myself I don't plan of selling any for a long time. Probably will buy some copper to add to the pile if people are willing to sell at just a little above face value.
