recently we threw away a cordless phone BUT...before we did i took the copper wiring out of the cord for the AC adapter and even tore the AC adapter apart for the copper coils inside.

its not much but it counts.

so now im kinda looking into stripping anything with a cord i find in other people's trash. also old ignition coils people view as trash, those have nice copper windings in them and are kinda heavy. even fans they use copper windings in the motor.

so on top of pennies im looking at trash for copper.

Old car radiators and heater cores consist of brass tubes.
Sometimes DIY mechanics throw away used car parts made of copper, aluminum or brass not realizing the value of their junk. Keep an eye out and you will be amazed at what you can find.
There is gold on them thar’ curbs come trash day.

True story

Near where I used to live there was a flea market held on Sundays.
I used to go picking up cans and any other neat little nick-knack left behind.
One day when the dealers had all gone for the day I was picking up cans and I came across a small metal dish that I thought was aluminum. I took it home with the intent of recycling it.
It turned out it was marked pound sterling. I verified that it was silver by scratching the surface and testing the metal with a chemical silver test kit. It was silver, not silver plate, but silver.
You just never know what you can find if you look.

Copper my new love. My hand hurts from stripping copper cord. God bless the campus dumpster bin.

Anyone knows if there are decent metals inside a vacuum cleaner.
