I was thinking of different ways to dump my zinc. I thought of stores, but what about leaving some for a tip at a restaurant? You could easily get rid of 10 rolls to a good waitress. Just a thought. What do you guys think?

That would be a nice tip even if it is zinc!

They would have to carry it around in that pouch.

Maybe I could actually write "tips" on the rolls, like "a penny saved is a penny earned", "a copper penny saved is two pennies earned", or "a zinc penny saved is just a penny"

I know there was talk one time of seeing who could dump the most zincs paying for gas, so maybe we should have a contest to see who can dump the most zincs paying for dinner and tip.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

It probably depends on the waitress/waiter. Many would be glad for a good tip in any form as one way that folks are cutting back is eating out less and tipping lower when they do. Some might still abhor pennies though.. so be sure you are well clear of the door before the waitress/waiter picks up the tip in case they decide to throw them at you. A roll of pennies upside the head would hurt more than a Klingon K'hluk.

I already buy my lunch at a few places entirely with zinc rolls. Many are happy to get the rolls because it saves them a trip to the bank.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Someone should try this at a fast-food drivethru window. Now THAT would be funny. Give them a whole brick and ask them to make change for you. You'd probably get the "Let me get the manager" speech.

When I pick up my mother's prescriptions I pay with zinc. What are they going to do, say no?

I bought a Gulp at 7-11, with tax it was $1.05. I gave the teller 3 rolls of pennies. She then broke open one of them and gave me back 45 of them.

She's WAY too smart to be working at 7-11.

First of all, 7-11 girl is awesome.

Second, DO NOT TIP WAITERS/WAITRESSES IN PENNIES!

It is too hard being a server in the first place, plus it is pretty much universally accepted that coin as a tip is rude "She was so bad I left pocket change..."

Gas station is fine (they have a register and safe), or any number of businesses that might even need the change, but please leave the poor service industry alone.

Los Angeles is the place I call home...

I would have to agree the coin idea as being bad as a tip. I have been told that leaving coins is the height of offensive. Worse then leaving no tip at all.

I have done dimes and nickels after I paid with my meal in quarters. I told the waiter before I did it. They were fine with it.

I picked up 100 rolls of shiny new 1997-P half dollars at the bank today. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I started leaving rolls of those as tips.

It's a great way to get rid of zincs, but just make sure the waiter or waitress can easily cash them out for FRNs if the restaurant is busy. 10 rolls of pennies will really weigh down a server's apron.

I don't see the problem with zincs as a tip. Don't all waitresses/waiters cash in all their tips at the end of the night for larger bills? If they look at you like they don't want it, then fine. Take it back. Their loss....

I agree the 7-11 situation was hilarious!!!!!
Also Wifey averages about $200 a night in tips and would be funny if she got left pennies. It is a 5-star restaurant so I don't think they even take pennies lol.
But in all regards,a tip is a tip as long as it is above 20%

Buying CU cents!!!! Paying 1.2 unlimited amounts wanted. Can pick up if near Ohio area.

The other day I went to dinner and paid with halves, then when we left I tipped with another roll. She had already figured out we were a bit less than normal though. It was also the very end of the day, so she didn't have to carry them around all day.

Also on one of the delivery's out of my shop yesterday, the kids paid for their pizza in PENNY ROLLS. I haven't got to go through them yet, but I am holding out hope that mom and dad have had the pennies for a while.
