Is it just me, or does a New Car with 3 yrs. free gas seem a little strange? (Chrysler)(15,000 miles per yr. based on MPG)
I mean, come on, in 3yrs. we could be looking at $14 gal.(as in another thread).
That seems like they would be taking a big risk.
Or do they know something we don't ?
Not to mention it takes 6 weeks to activate the fuel card.
Maybe somebody is whispering in their ear.
Just seems a little odd to me.

They do have a limit per year. And you can buy contracts or insurance to cover it, so they are probably not hanging out in the breeze like you think. I thought it was 2.99 gas, not free.
It is a good marketing move. |

Yep. Agreed.

I believe your right on the $2.99 (Chrysler), My bad.
I thought I seen it somewhere though,it may have been a local dealership like Suzuki or something like that.

That would seem expensive for them also.
I guess time will tell. |

It wouldn't be expensive. They are bascially just locking in the price of gas at todays $3.37 minus the cost of capital using futures and upfront capital outlay. They will lose $0.38 a gallon + taxes. if you figure a $1 a gallon, then that is only $1200 per car over the 3 years.
If it sells cars, then that is a cheap sale.

"This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the "hidden" confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. | Seen both "free" and "set price" gas deals with new cars. Just another form of rebate/promo. Grab the hot headline and use it to stimulate sales. |
