While sorting pennies today I came across an interesting counterstamp. It is an outline of JFKs head. It's facing Lincoln and looks pretty well done. I think I'll keep it.
Funny you mention that...I just found one too in my last sorted box from late last week. I have also found one that has both the liberty bell and outline of the U.S. on it.
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.
I've found one of those and several other strange counterstamps, like flags and such. My strangest find was a 64 British(??) Cent in a half dollar roll. It was about the same size as the halves.
Add me to the list of people who have found 1, mine is a 1973D with Kennedy stamped on it. I also have 1 with the State AR stamped on it, it is a 1976.
I too have found similar stamped pennies - one with Kennedy and one with the State of Florida - both to the right side of Lincoln's face on the obverse.
I found one with the state outline an IL inside the state border. I'd like to find and start a collection of the actual stamps or dies they used to make these variants.
