Hi all,
I sort by hand, and tho it is a lot more time consuming, sometimes you come across weird stuff like copper blanks! I found one last saturday! Has anyone else come across one? What are they worth? -Actually, it's a zinc blank, but still interesting! I don't have a pic of it on hand, but it's blank on both sides, and I'm 99.9999% sure it was destined to be a penny because it's plated zinc. Any thoughts?

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

I have found one. I think they are called planchets. I put it in my box of "weird things found while sorting". I had no idea they could be worth something. |

I found one the other day, don't know what I did with it though...
Anyway I looked it up and the ones that are in good condition go for upwards of $5. |

Wait . . . if it is blank, how do you know it is Canadian? Are Canadian cents a slightly different size? (I've never measured.) |

I found a coin stamped on the face only. the back was unstamped. I have not yet verified it's authenticity. |

i bought one at a coin show years ago... not as cool as the really strong offset strikes, but i like them. Haven't found one in the wild yet, tho.
Sounds like there's been a sudden surge of them in circulation... wonder if it's slipping quality control, or something from National Coin Week? |
Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead? |

Found a blank planchet on May 23/08. I think it is Canadian and likely copper based on age. It has circulated for a long time. |
