Has anybody ever recycled any pewter. I have around 15 lbs of it and the place I usually go only offered .20/lb. I looked on Metalworld.com and they showed that it was going for around 4.60 a lb. Does anybody know of what price they are getting around them for their pewter? I did not sell it for .20 cents/lb.
Pewter can be 85 to 99 percent tin by weight and demand for pewter is almost non-existant because eveything once made of pewter is now primarily made of glass or porcelain. The recycling center probably has a hard time reselling it and that's more than likely why they don't pay anything.
Instead of the recycler try to sell the pewter to those who make their own lead soldiers. You might want to try searching the web for any forums or groups that make lead soldiers and see if they are interested in buying, or maybe there are artists who work in metals and would like to turn your pewter into works of art. If all else fails, try an online auction.
Don't just think of your metal as junk or scrap, think of it as a raw material with an eager buyer out there looking for it.
