I order all my pennies from one credit union, anywhere from 2-12 boxes a week, plus I take any CRW they get. All the staff know I collect and why. They are always looking out for me. They call me each week to see if I want coin.
I went to the main branch at noon today, and the credit union president gave me an envelope full of pennies. There were about 75 pennies inside the envelope and he said there is one wheat in there. They had a car repo and cleaned it out and had all these pennies that they decided to just give me. It just shows what a good relationship can provide for your hoarding activities. They not only order the pennies for me, but have the pennies available on a cart when I come to pick them up.
So I open the envelope and it's about 80% copper, and the wheat penny is a 1943-S Steel in XF condition. I already have 2 Indian Head pennies but had yet to yield a 1943 Steel.
This made my day.

Personal, positive relationships usually have very nice benefits. They deserve some candy or something. Nice score.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

That is an excellent customer relationship you have with that bank, congratulations.
I need to work on my people skills I guess, I'm not as personable in real life as I am online ;)
Oh, and as for the steel penny, I picked up $200 in loose bags today. As soon as I poured the first one out in my unsorted bucket what do I see on top but a wheat, and an unusual wheat at that.
Picked it up, turned it over, and sure enough it was a 1943! My 5th one since I started sorting :)
Still no Indian Head though :( |

The tellers at my bank know what I am up to as well, they hold silver Half dollars aside for me and work with me on any ordering that I want to do. Definitely great allies in the "freebase currency mining" industry.
