Has anyone heard of any 2008 penny errors. I was browsing Ebay and had one auction say in the description that people are already reporting errors.... Can anyone confirm this? Thx in advance, Andy
There are no year-specific errors for the 2008's yet that I know of. The ebay auction paroy linked above is indeed an error but it isn't year or even denomination specific. That one was caused by a coin getting struck correctly once and then getting struck again through a die cap. I die cap is just a fancy name for a coin that gets stuck to the die and stamps an incuse, mirror image on all the coins that pass through that die. The coin above was struck with such a cap.
