Hoard is trying really hard to convince me to leave the Rational Thinkers Club. I found my SECOND Indian Head today, a 1898. But get this, I have only hand sorted 9, count them, 9 boxes so far! So that is 2 indian heads in 22500 pennies. I have a percentage of 0.0008 in finding Indian heads.

Maybe you should quit now while you are ahead kieblera.. that average can only go down. Actually, they tend to come in groups of 3, so keep your eyes peeled.

Tonight, after a long draught.. I found #12 for the year! I was beginning to worry I had been mysteriously transported to Texas.. where there are no wild indians. It was an 1892. Despite a small edge ding and an old battle scar on the cheek, it is still beautiful to me!

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Hello fellow initiates, new member here. Found my first and only indian head a few weeks back, an 1870 in worn but legible condition. I'm a hand-sorter, and find this hobby incredibly calming. Picked it up when my metal detector broke down (have no way to fix it). My best find with that was about half an ounce of high karet gold embedded with diamond chips and a large sapphire (who says it doesn't pay to bring your metal detector to a private island in the Bahamas?)
Have a five gallon water jug nearly full of ghetto gold. My best percentage yet was at a coin shop of mine - - - the owner was going to take his cloth mint bags of unc '61 and '62 pennies to the coin star, but the sweet fellow allowed me to buy them for face. At the time I was very low on capitol, and said "Well you're taking the fun out of it!"
Been lurking here for many months. And there's no telling whether I won't relapse at any time. I wish you all the best of luck and congratulate you on your level of awareness. Peace.

And the stories just get more and more fantastic. Yesterday afternoon, Bigfoot shook my hand, and Nessie came to swim in my swimming pool. After that, I sat down for supper with Santa Clause and the tooth fairy. And, a unicorn slept at the foot of my bed.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

it's interesting, granted... but unless someone kept stats like cwgii does it doesn't give us any baseline. We don't know how many thousands of cents were searched for the finds they resulted in. It WOULD be interesting if we had accurate stats on how many IHC's, pre-1940's, wheaties, etc were being found year after year, percentage wise... one would presume that the %'s are dropping, but who knows what effect joblessness is having on forcing people to relinquish their old jars of pennies?

ehh, i don't know. i understand what you're saying. but that is essentially saying the findings are useless unless we know how many cents people searched to get them... and that's kinda saying all the tracking threads are useless....

tracking threads are fun... it gives us a chance to share our finds and bask in a glow of accomplishment...or is that envy? But I much prefer the spin that Country puts into his Halves tracking thread by requesting numbers of skunks as well as finds... that allows searchers attempting to decide which coins to look for to determine the best odds, and therefore the most judicious use of their time

Space Coast of FL.

I think Stealies are the more rare thing to find, well, those darn 09's are rare too.

I only got one platic, one MGM 5cent token, one washer, one Ausi nickle, and one chrome or silver plated penny. There's some cool sh!t put out there.

What's in it for the dude?
