I have received 2 $25 Brinks boxes that are almost all copper. Has anyone else seen this shift? Was getting no copper for awhile, now it seems to have reversed. What's going on? 90+% copper. These boxes also contain alot of wheats and all the canadians are copper, as are the 1982's. Seems to also have a bunch of 1963D BU pennies.

| Most likely a penny hoarder died and his heirs dumped the hoard. You just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I have never seen a 90% Brinks box myself. My best is maybe 45-50% and 150 wheats (3 per roll average). |

| You are probably right Horgad. Someone dumped their husband's or father's hoard. I know my wife tells me if I die our hoard is going right to the bank. I tell her thats fine if she wants to get 1/3 or less of what they are worth. I expect she would dump my wheats at the bank too and I have dozens of bags of wheats. Heck knowing how much she hates my coin collecting hobby she will probably dump my Morgan dollar collection at the bank too. |

Maybe there are some confused sorters out there and you got one of their copper dumps?

That's great news TXCU. You may want to go back to that bank and buy the rest of their pennies before they give them out to the merchants. There was probably a large amount of pennies turned in by someone upstream and you got them after they got rolled up by Brinks.
I think as the economy slides further we will all be seeing a few sweeter boxes occasionally as folks roll up all those pennies that have been laying around for years and deposit them in the bank so they can buy gas and groceries. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I should, I would rather see my coins go to a collector that will appreciate them rather than go to the bank and get dumped at face value. |

| I know a lot of people who just randomly keep a large amount of pennies in something. Be it a jar or what have you. I'm sure this is the case all across the country and some of these jars may have been collecting pennies for the last 20 or 30 years. I'd be willing to bet these are going to start showing up at the banks this summer with the way things are going. Good news for us though. |

I recently got six boxes on a bank order that all weighed in at over 16 pounds. A couple were pushing 17. Still to lazy to sort them though. |

Nice find! My last box I went thru had about 1.5 wheats per rolls and barely 25% copper... |

I would be extremely happy with 25% copper and and 75 wheats per box. |

I have a cousin that is letting me sort her pennies. She has been saving them since she was a kid. She just threw them in a jug. She's in her 20's. So hopefully there should be some good percentages. |
